*SCALES: Be prepared to play two major scales and a chromatic scale on your
instrument. This includes percussion on mallets! (Woodwinds, play two octaves if you
can.)
*EXCERPTS: An excerpt is a portion of a piece of music. Be prepared to play any of the
bracketed excerpts from the audition music, Holst’s Second Suite in F. See Mrs.
Mollenkopf if you need a recording of the piece.
*SIGHT-READING will be the last portion of your audition. DON’T BE NERVOUS,
just DO YOUR BEST!
Percussionists, please bring your own pair of sticks to audition.
