Audacity: Music Mix
Your task is to create a mix of a minimum of 5 songs (more is okay) linked together
to make one phrase. We will be using Audacity to edit sound. You will need to bring
in CD’s of music you would like to use (The songs you choose must be school
appropriate).
To complete this task you will need to:
1. Open your songs in Audacity. Project – Import Audio
The songs may need to be ripped to your library before they will be
usable.
2. Mute all songs except the one you are working with. You will find a mute
button on the left side of every song.
3. Place your selection tool (this looks like I ) before the words in the song you
would like to use.
4. Then go to Edit – Select – Start to curser.
5. You will then use the scissors tool to cut the song.
6. Place your selection tool (this looks like I ) after the words in the song you
would like to use.
7. Then go to Edit – Select –Curser to end.
8. You will then use the scissors tool to cut the song.
9. You will repeat these steps with each song until you are only left with the
words you would like to use for your phrase.
10. Finally you will move your songs around ( ) so that the words are in the
order you would like them.
Grading Rubric:
At least 5 songs were used 5 points
Music was split with little to no extra words 10 points
Phrase was clear and understandable 10 points
TOTAL 25 points
