SAN ANTONIO STOCK SHOW AND RODEO AWARDS SCHOLARHIPS

TO BEXAR COUNTY 4-H STUDENTS



San Antonio, TX – Scholarships in the amount of $16,000 each were awarded to twelve

deserving Bexar County 4-H members on August 8, 2008 at the Helotes 4-H Center in

Helotes.



Tony Magaro, Chairman of the Scholarship Committee presented the awards, assisted

by Bert Pfiester, Executive Committee Vice President, Danny Adams, Assistant Vice

President and Jack Ballard, Assistant Vice President.



Other San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo volunteers in attendance were Mr. and Mrs.

Kenneth Heinemeyer, Western Art Committee; Trish Ballard, Frontier Club Committee;

Bruce Hathaway, Chairman of the Communications Committee; and David Rodriguez,

Souvenir Committee.

This year the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo has committed $8.5 million to

education. The amount represents scholarships, grants, endowments, junior livestock

auctions, Calf Scramble program, and show premiums paid to youth in the state of

Texas. This brings the total amount that the organization has committed since the

inception of the Scholarship Fund in 1984 to over $87 million.

The San Antonio Livestock Exposition, Inc. is a volunteer organization that emphasizes

agriculture and education to develop the youth of Texas.
