As a Hardware Specialist, supported deployment and fielding planning and preparation for the Joint
Technical Data Interchange (JTDI) Electronic Maintenance Support System (EMSS) (the “Device”), a
joint Army and Navy program to provide Base and Deployed Personnel (warfighters) with up-to-date
maintenance manuals, forms, directions, etc., through a cascaded Ethernet managed at Redstone Arsenal
and extending through the Non-Classified Internet Protocol Router Network (NIPRNet) to CONUS and
OCONUS United States Marine Corps bases, from Battalion to Company levels. Planning included
maintaining consumables stocks for use during construction of common storage racks for 2200 Devices,
and for installing those Devices and ancillaries (network switches, battery chargers, power strips, etc).
Contract terminated by Consultant on April 12, 2008.

Senior Systems Analyst III
Supported planning, build-out, network, server, and workstation configuration, and operations of two
unclassified computing laboratories. Designed hardware for a Software Integration facility proposal
related to the Littoral Combat Ship Program. Built, configured, and tested a Microsoft Office Live
Communications Server 2005, along with Microsoft Windows Messaging on two clients.
In February, 2006, was assigned to support Embedded Test Hardware at the Boeing facilities in
Huntsville (daily) and at Colorado Springs (periodically). Duties included user support, system problem
determination and resolution, maintenance of shell scripts used during installation and configuration of
the various Embedded Test site nodes, fault tree analysis, and the design and implementation of test codes
(in C) for certain hardware components within some of the nodes.
COLSA Corporation, Huntsville, AL, 1991 to June, 2003
Systems Analyst III/IV
From September, 1999, was the primary backup administrator for all UNIX, OpenVMS, and Windows
systems within the ISTC, the ISTC-2, the Joint User Laboratory, and the Operational Test Agency
activities in the Advanced Research Center (ARC). In that capacity, designed a unified backup solution,
using RS/6000 and Ultra 450 servers and four IBM 3494 tape libraries, for more than 400 heterogeneous
servers and workstations with a total storage capacity exceeding ten terabytes and populating more than
fifty sub-networks of the ISTC’s Class B Internet allocation, implemented the design; performed personal
daily oversight of backup operations to ensure reliability and data integrity; created and issued daily and
weekly reports to other administrators and managers. Wrote Tivoli Storage Manager macros and scripts
to automate daily server administration tasks. Assisted users in restoring lost files, distributing file sets to
other clients by means of the backup servers, etc.
Wrote the Security Technical Implementation Guides for AIX 5L 5.1, IRIX, and Solaris operating
systems to comply with the May 1, 2000, release of the National Industrial Security Program Operating
Manual (DOD 5220.22-M, Chapter 8).
Performed daily system analysis and management of Silicon Graphics and Sun workstations and servers
in the ARC. Tasks included all support functions for more than 150 users, coding, software installations,
license management, resource allocation, and training of new staff members. Performed network analysis
and configuration, including establishing special links to outlying activities of the National Missile
Defense Program, now known as Ground-Based Midcourse Defense.
Between March, 1996, and July, 2000, was assigned as lead analyst/administrator for the Integrated
Systems Test Capability (ISTC) Program, with eventual responsibility for more than 400 systems and
more than 500 users; supervised and trained junior analysts and administrators.
Was assigned sole responsibility for the year 2000 problem resolution and compliance activity for the
ISTC Program at COLSA Corporation and Teledyne Brown Engineering, designed and implemented
procedures to ensure compliance, and performed all compliance activities including test design, all patch
installations, and regression testing.
Created an Access database to manage more than 1200 user accounts on all platforms, collected all
information for that database, massaged the information for importation to the database, and conducted ad
hoc review of the database to ensure its continued integrity and usefulness.
Wrote and maintained procedures document describing work instructions for daily and periodic activities
of ISTC analysts and administrators as part of COLSA’s successful accreditation under ISO-9000/9001
standards.
Sperry Systems Management (renamed Unisys in 1986), Huntsville, AL, 1982 to 1991
Senior Programmer/Analyst, 1989 to 1991. Performed daily system analysis, management, and
maintenance on Silicon Graphics workstations in the ARC under Unisys/Paramax subcontract to COLSA
Corporation. Tasks included all support functions for more than 15 workstations, user support, coding,
software installations, and license management. Supported other UNIX workstations and computers in
the ARC (Alliant, Convex, and Sun platforms).
Engineering Programmer, 1987 to 1989. Ported several programs to run in Silicon Graphics 3000 and
4D systems, including COSMIC NASTRAN, SPICE, and SCEPTRE. Participated as technical writer in
several proposal efforts, including Multiple Object Locator System, Computer Aided Design and
Analysis, Space Station Application Generator, Advanced Combat Rifle Field Exercise Implementation,
and others. Generated new code for RETS/ERETS scoring documentation, full-screen editing, and cross
reference generation. Participated in AIM rehost effort.
Senior Data Processing Specialist, 1984 to 1987. Ported RIM-5.0 (public domain database manager),
Tektronix PLOT-10 Graphics Software, and CalComp 960/PCI driver software to operate in Silicon
Graphics UNIX environment. Debugged and added enhancements to RIM-5.0 code. Implemented report
generation, data loading, and generation breakdown programs on an IBM-XT using IBM FORTRAN.
Continued design and coding of data loading, checking, and editing programs for RIM-5.0 interface,
using VAX FORTRAN. Continued work on Infantry Remoted Targeting System (IRETS), including
generation and preparation of Program Package Documents, Data Base Design Documents, command
files for automatic generation of application software on Motorola EXORmacs Development System.
Learned the "C" programming language and designed and coded software to run on a Callan Unistar
UNIX system to provide ASCII file transfer between the Callan and a VAX-11/780 minicomputer.
Researched hardware and software for proposal efforts. Interfaced with US Army Missile Command
(MICOM) customer for periodic review and evaluation of progress toward completion of contract
requirements. Produced and expedited purchase requisitions for acquisition of contracted material.
Data Processing Specialist, 1983 to 1984. Performed a detailed survey of: database management
techniques used in the Pershing II missile project; technologies useful in database management, including
storage and display hardware and software. Produced documentation detailing survey findings and
suggestions for implementing new technologies in large-scale engineering databases. Learned UNIX
operating system and gained experience using troff, vi, and other UNIX utilities, and Pascal and
FORTRAN under UNIX. Learned Motorola EXORmacs operating system, Pascal, FORTRAN, and

Scenario Compiler, and Range Control Station software for IRETS. Produced software change
