Monday
Objective: work on U.S. geography skills and continue our study of the Roaring Twenties.
Learner Outcomes—Students will be able to: learn mnemonic strategy for completing U.S. map and that popular
culture during the 1920’s was influenced by the mass media, sports, and the contributions of African Americans.
Activities:
1.) U.S. map activity. Student will receive blank U.S. map and have to ID as many states as they can using the
correct 2 letter U.S. postal code.
2.) Guided notes on The Jazz Age and the Harlem Renaissance.
3.) Vocabulary: jazz, mass media, popular culture, Harlem Renaissance
AVID Strategies Used: Writing Inquiry Collaboration Reading
Accommodations/Modifications: extra time if needed, individual help for struggling students
Assessment: 19/50 on U.S. map activity, completion of semantic maps
Homework: Continue working on Roaring Twenties project
Tuesday
Objective: Students are to use library resources to aid in their completion of the Roaring Twenties cereal box
project.
Learner Outcomes—Students will be able to: work on their individual projects.
Activities:
1.) Students will go to library and use resources for their roaring twenties project.

Assessment: attendance and participation
Homework: Continue working on Roaring Twenties project
Wednesday
Objective: Review for 5 week assessment on 10/6.
Learner Outcomes—Students will be able to: use review day to better prepare themselves for the 5-week
assessment.
Activities:
1.) Students will have a choice of either engaging in a 1920’s jeopardy review game to help review concepts
for their assessment or they can work on a review worksheet independently.
2.) The entire period will be used for review.

Homework: Study for 5-week assessment
Thursday
Objective: Assess students’ knowledge and understanding from the last 5 weeks.
Learner Outcomes—Students will be able to: demonstrate their knowledge of U.S. foreign policy, long and short
term causes of WW1 as well as the Roaring Twenties.
Activities:
1.) Field any last minute questions students may have before tests are distributed.
2.) Students will have entire period to complete test.

Assessment: 75% accuracy on 5-week assessment
Homework: Finish Roaring Twenties project
Friday
Objective: Students will be able to showcase their Roaring Twenties cereal box project.
Learner Outcomes—Students will be able to: answer a series of comprehension questions from the Roaring
Twenties from their own cereal boxes as well as their classmates cereal boxes.
Activities:
1.) The 1920’s cereal box project is due!
2.) Students will have a series of questions to answer from the roaring twenties.
3.) Students are to answer these questions by going around the classroom and examining all
projects. The answers should be found on the information from various cereal boxes.
