to work in sequence, building on skills learned
at lower levels up to the highest level. For best
results, we encourage all students to take the
necessary prerequisites first. Focus workshops are
quick, one-day tutorials to assist you in maintaining

                                                       (55 years and older)
                                                       Join us for a walking tour of Washington that traces
                                                       the path of British invaders who burned the White
                                                       House and Capitol in 1814. This tour, billed as
                                                       an Anecdotal History Tour of Washington, D.C., is
                                                       led by Anthony S. Pitch, an award-winning author,
                                                       former Associated Press Broadcast Editor, and
                                                       senior writer in the books division of U.S. News
                                                       and World Report. Pitch has received praise as
                                                       an historian, story-teller, and guide. On this tour,
                                                       you will follow the path of British troops who
                                                       burned the Capitol, the White House, and other
                                                       public buildings in 1814. You will see the original
                                                       walls of the Capitol that survived the fire and walk
                                                       down Pennsylvania Avenue, pausing where the
                                                       enemy destroyed the building of the first national
                                                       newspaper and where they ate by the light of the
                                                       flaming city. You will see where a patriot saved the
                                                       Declaration of Independence and the Constitution
