Falcons, Panthers Both 3-0

As District Play Kicks Off

The excitement and anticipation to this game was building throughout the BYE

week. The Falcons, perfect in non-district play traveled to Welsaco to face the 3-0

Panthers on September 23.

The Falcons, who won both of their non-district away games earlier in the sea-

son, expected a tough battle on the road against their district opponent, Weslaco

High. The Falcons looked to turn the tables on the Panthers for last year’s 21 to

14 home opening loss.

See our next issue for highlights for that exciting match-up. The Falcons pre-

pare to face the Lobos from Brownsville Lopez High at home on September 30.

The Falcons hope to repeat last season’s 20 to 17 mugging of the Lobos and con-

Recently the Ethel L Whipple Memorial Library was given a

book written by local resident. The book “The Boys of

Barranca Alta” by Eva Garcia Hernandez is a lovingly

compiled memoir of growing up in Los Fresnos. Full of

photos and sunshine the book represents a pictorial history

of the Garcia family in work and play. If you are a longtime resident of Los Fresnos

you will be swept up by fond memories of the past and by the rich narrative the author

supplies. This book is available to read as a reference book in the library.

Thank you Los Fresnos for the overwelming responce to our survey. We are still

collecting data in order to set up classes so it is still not too late to fill out a survey. The

Ethel L Whipple Memorial Library will be partnering with Computer Troubleshooters

to offer classes in computer basics. You MUST come into the library and sign up for

the classes. We plan to offer Word, Excel, e-mail basics and internet surfing. These

will be free classes. We also offer free Wi-Fi during business hours.
