Time: 2pm to 5pm
Fees:
Midgets and 4th to 8th grade: $30.00
9th grade and upwards: $50.00 and $45.00 each for more than one child.
Seniors fees: $120.00
Socks: $12.00
Please note that the fees are ‘grade based’ not ‘age based’.
Notes about Fees:
You will notice that the fees have increased from last year. You may have also noticed recently an article in
the Press about Soccer’s governing body in Canterbury (Mainland Soccer) facing a financial crisis and has
had to review the charges it charges the clubs for running the competitions (and game) in the region.
Typically, the fees from Mainland Soccer have increased by $15 per player – our fees to the parents have not
increased by this amount. The committee have resolved to attract further sponsorship to help absorb the cost
increases. We are now faced with affiliation charges our for our 7th and 8th grade teams even though they are
not part of the Mainland Competition, in previous years there were no fees.
To keep things in perspective it is worthwhile mentioning that we still have one of the lowest fees of all clubs
in Canterbury. For example other junior club fees we have surveyed:
Cashmere Clubs fees are $75 and they have to pay for their uniforms.
Burnside 4-6 yrs $35, 7th grade up $75 - they get their uniforms provided.
North Shore in Auckland: the fees last year were $120.00 and the uniform had to be paid for.
The Rolleston Soccer Club needs to purchase soccer posts and new gear to allow for the rapidly expanding
club. We are now the 4th biggest junior club in Canterbury. We are hoping to keep the fees at this level in
future years but it is something that we will have to constantly review as it will be depend on the funding we
can obtain and the yearly costs of running the club.
Coaches Fees:
Head Coaches of a team will pay no subs for any of their children’s fees regardless of the grade they play in.
Glasses on the Sports Field:
A NZ Soccer directive that has come down from FIFA (Soccer’s International Governing Body) that no
player (regardless of age, sex or position) may take the field if they have either ‘metal framed glasses’ or
‘glass lenses in plastic or composite frames’. ie: no glass or metal on the field. All players in NZ must
comply and a game must not start until this has been complied with. Alternatives: Plastic/Composite ‘over
glasses’, Plastic/Composite frames and ‘polycarb’ lenses, Contact Lenses.
This is to apply to the Midget and 7th 8th grade as well. It is not just the wearer of the glasses that this rule is
in force to protect but also those people they collide with and; also, due to any small pieces of glass on the
field (that is not collected) should they break.
Registration Day Equipment for Sale:
Jackets: Polarfleece and Wind Proof jackets are available on registration for viewing. They must be paid for
with the order. They will be in club colours with the club name.

Soccer Boots and Shin Pads can be dropped off and sold. These must have your name, price and phone
number on a card affixed to the item to be accepted.
Other Equipment:
Socks can only be ordered off the club (as they must be of a standard colour and type). The club provides
shirts and shorts (in the clubs colours) for the 9th grade upwards but just the shirts for the Midget and 7th and
8th grades. Children in these grades are encouraged to wear black shorts. Boots and shin pads of all sizes can
be purchased from the likes of ‘The Warehouse’ or ‘Puma’ in ‘Dressmart’. If going to the ‘Puma’ store say
that you are from the Rolleston Soccer Club and you will receive good discounts. We hope to have Puma
discount cards available at Registration.
Competition Start Date: 01April – Once teams /grades are confirmed, your team organiser/coach will be in
touch before the season starts to confirm training times or grading game times.
Midgets and 7t and 8th grades Midgets (4yrs to 6yrs) and 7th and 8th grades (7 and 8 year olds)
These grades deserve a special mention. (ahem…to cut down on the number of questions from the 160+
participants )
Start Date is the same: (01 April) - Midgets go from 10am to 11am and 7th and 8th grade from 9am to 10am
– The first 25 minutes of the sesssion is for basic drills and then they are split into pre-arranged teams that
play in a fun ‘in house’ league (with real points and finalists etc). They can wear any shorts or track pants
(black shorts are the best) and should bring long sleeve (and warm) under garments for the colder days to be
worn under the team shirts that they will be given by the club. Teams have 7 or 8 players each and there are
Player of the Day prizes etc. All players must have shin pads and boots for their own protection. You may be
asked to help with game day organising. All games will be at the Rolleston Reserve. This year we are
hosting two (or so) Darfield teams to join in the 7th and 8th grades league. They will travel to our club each
week.
Grading Games:
This will be the first year that the club will be having grading games for teams in the competitive leagues,
11th grade and above. This will only apply to grades that have 3 or more teams in the grade. There will be one
top team in each grade, and the other teams will be mixed ability. Grading will be undertaken by the coach
and two other selectors. Please ensure that you attend these trials if you wish your child to have the
opportunity to be selected for the top team.
10th grade is having a premiers division and there will be training for grading in February. The organiser will
be in touch.
Team placement:
We will, as always, endeavour to put your child into the team that you want them to be in, but this is not
always possible due to team numbers, and grading of teams in the competitive grades. Meeting new friends,
and team mates is an exciting part of being a soccer player.
Registration forms:
These must be in before the 24th of February as we have to get the number of teams into the governing body
by the 3rd of March.
Committee and Helpers:
We are looking for a new secretary, new members for the committee and a ‘Results Officer’. Please consider
putting your name forward to help out with organising. The more we have the lighter the load for all of us.
The committee usually only meets once a month.
Coaches:
Each year we struggle to find enough people to coach. This year there will be pre-season training for coaches.
We now have more support structures to assist first time coaches than in the past. Mainland Soccer also run a
range of courses throughout the season. The club will pay for any coach who wishes to attend one of these
courses. Every one that has taken up coaching has said that it was very rewarding

Team Managers:
Perhaps you could help with the Management of the Team that your child is in. This is crucial to ensure that
the coach is freed up to coach without having to worry about other issues
Fields:
We are faced with moving the 9th and 10th grade teams to the Weedons Reserve on Maddisons Road, for
their Saturday games. This is due to there not being enough fields in the immediate Rolleston area. Two new
Senior Fields have been created down at the partially developed Southern Reserve (Lowes/Brookside and
Dunns Crossing Roads.)13th and 14th grades will play their games here The Midget and 7th and 8th grade
teams will still play at the Rolleston Reserve in their in house competition.
All trainings will be in Rolleston
