KIPP NYC Summer Internships
KIPP NYC is looking for 4-5 summer interns to assist us in the exciting growth of our
charter school network. KIPP NYC currently serves over 2,100 KIPP students and
alumni, employs 200 remarkably talented and fun professionals, and will grow to serve
over 3500 students and employ more than 350 staff. . This summer, we will open a new
elementary school in Harlem and double the size of our existing elementary and high
schools. As such we are looking for individuals interested in getting great hands on
experience in the world of education reform.
KIPP NYC interns will work closely with a Director-level staff member at KIPP NYC
and will be located at our Harlem (133rd and Broadway) location. Interns will receive a
modest summer stipend and be expected to work full-time for 6-10 weeks.
New School Startup: This summer, we will open a new elementary school and two of
our schools will double in size and move locations. The New School Startup Intern will
team up with the school leadership of each of these three schools to help with the
following: purchasing, planning summer events/orientation, helping with enrollment, and
setting up the new facilities.
Data Analysis: The Data Analysis Intern will work side-by-side with our Director of
Data and Student Information on the following projects: Analyzing state exam results,
setting up our student information system for our new schools, and coordinating/writing
our year-end Annual Reports for our authorizers. Each of these projects will require
proficiency in Excel and will give the opportunity to learn how to present data effectively
for a nationwide audience.
Human Resources: This summer, we will welcome 75 new staff members to KIPP
NYC. The HR Intern will become an integral part of the HR team, primarily helping to
plan and execute new hire orientation and enroll all staff in new benefits.
Technology: The Technology Intern will work primarily on equipping three new sites
with new technology equipment and setting up all new staff members with new
computers and equipment.
Qualifications:
Full-time student (undergrad or graduate) or recent graduate required
Genuine interest in entering the world of education reform full-time in the near
future
Strong attention to detail and strong sense of organization
Self-starter who works well independently
Extreme flexibility, with a strong work ethic and an entrepreneurial spirit to
accommodate high level of responsibility and multiple priorities
Passionate commitment to KIPP NYC’s mission and to high standards of
excellence
