Ron Paul Needs your help with Ballot Access in Illinois!
Dear Illinois Ron Paul Supporter,
In order to become the Republican Nominee for President in 2012 Ron Paul needs to win
the majority of Republican National Convention Delegates in a complex state-by-state process
culminating at the Republican National Convention held in September of 2012.
Ron Paul needs your help in Illinois with several important tasks in his fight for the
Republican Party Presidential Nomination.
The Ron Paul campaign is currently seeking volunteers in Illinois to put Ron Paul on the
March 20th Illinois Presidential Primary Ballot.
It is also seeking supporters who wish to run as candidates for the position of Republican
Convention Delegate in March 20th Illinois Primary Election. If you are selected by the campaign,
and successful in the delegate petition process, your name will be on the same ballot in your
congressional district as Ron Paul.
In Illinois there are several steps the Ron Paul campaign must take to be in position to win
some or all of the regular convention delegates in the Republican Primary on March 20th, 2012
Ron Paul has to:
1) Collect and file at least 3000 but not more than 5000 petition signatures statewide to be
listed on the ballot. Await further instructions from the campaign regarding this. The campaign
has yet to decide on how resources will be utilized in Illinois and likely will not make that decision
until gauging the momentum in early primary states like New Hampshire and Iowa. With that
being said, it is paramount in importance that a strategy and some form of organization be
developed in Illinois as the Petition deadline for delegates is January 3rd.
2) Ron Paul needs delegate candidates in each congressional district. These Ron Paul
delegate candidates have to collect and submit their own ballot petition signatures in the
congressional district in which they live and vote. In Any given congressional district if Ron wins
the most votes he wins the delegates from that district. Again, it is extremely important that a
strategy and some form of organization be developed in Illinois as the Petition deadline for
delegates is January 3rd 2012.
Please review the following things you can do below to help Ron Paul in Illinois.
Action Items:
1) Collect petition signatures to put Ron Paul on the ballot.
2) Collect petition signatures to put Ron Paul RNC Delegate Candidates on the ballot in
your congressional district. The Ron Paul campaign is also looking for volunteers to help circulate
petitions on behalf of delegates within your Congressional District. Call Rafe by phone at 309-781-
0873 or contact him by e-mail at rafe.thrasher@yahoo.com
(Steps 1 and 2 can be considered a two for one situation.)
(I have been in contact with Josh and plan on keeping in contact. I am offering to be the POC for
all delegates in the 17th District. Please contact me if you reside in the 17th as we will need to
collaborate in our efforts to complete our petitions.)
3) Become a Ron Paul Delegate Candidate. 17th District: We need three Delegates and
three Alternate Delegates. Nancy and I (Rafe Thrasher) are filling two of the three primary
delegate positions which leaves one open primary delegate and three alternates needed. Contact
Josh Pearson to see if there are unfilled delegate candidate slots in your congressional district
assuming you are not in the 17th. Call Josh by phone at (484)-678-7605 or contact him by e-mail at
Joshp@ronpaul2012.com.
4)Review Robert’s Rule’s of Order. These are formal meeting procedures that are used as a
guide in interacting during the Illinois State Convention. All of us will need to become proficient
in our knowledge of the aforementioned. Here is a link to the extremely long pdf:

IMPORTANT! Please read the following:
To become a delegate, you must be a citizen of the United States, at least 18 years of age &
a registered voter at your current address for the past 30 days. Responsibilities of an elected
delegate include attending the Illinois Delegate Convention held June 8 & 9, 2012. The Illinois
Republican Party State Convention convenes in Tinley Park and chooses the remaining 10 at-large
delegates, and the Republican National Convention is held September 27-30th, 2012 in Tampa,
Florida. You will be responsible for your transportation and lodging for both conventions. The
National Republican Committee also has a National Convention Registration Fee (TBD – estimated
around $200 - $400) which covers admittance to the convention, various events held for delegates
outside of the convention and ground transportation while in St. Paul. If you are willing to serve as
a delegate and can meet the time and expense commitments noted above, please contact Josh
Pearson at joshp@ronpaul2012.com and provide your name, address and phone number.
Illinois has many dedicated Ron Paul supporters in the State of Illinois and we thank you for
your continued support of Ron Paul.
Please take action today. You can make a difference.
Sincerely,
Rafe Thrasher
