MINUTES - Troop 141 Committee Meeting Date: September 1, 2011

A committee meeting was held on Thursday, September 1, 2011 in the Heidelberg Church. The committee
members and parents present were as follows:

S., Mike G., Ron C., Bob M., Jeff B., Mike R., Jen A.
Charter Organization Report -
Jerry thanked the Troop for the new roof on the cabin.
He stated the picnic is ok for Sept. 24, only needs the usage paperwork completed.
Equipment / Facilities Report -
Mike D. stated we need to replace two tents and many poles. Will soon have a list of all items needed. Mike R.
to check the propane.
Treasurer’s Report -
Brenda reported the checkbook balance is $13,641.58.
Less $2,850 for Giant cards (purchased at 5% discount).
Less ~$470. For Cook-off and Gettysburg patches.
$1,661. Scout Accounts
$1,409. Credits (reimbursements to be paid).
There was discussion of posting scout accounts with or w/o negative balances. Bob M. moved and Carolyn M.
second to post monthly account info including those with negative balances (unpaid dues, trip $ owed, etc).
After more discussion, Bob amended his motion to post only positive account balances (No 0$ or negative
balances), second by Mike D.
There was discussion of distributing committee minutes and financial position spreadsheet to committee
members directly until they become available on the website. Mike D. moved and John B. seconds the motion
to do this monthly.
Scoutmaster’s Report -
Jeff reported summer camp was a great success. The Knoebels trip, they bugged out Saturday night.
Cabin cleanup could be Sat., Sept. 10. Bike night also Sept. 10 in Lansdale from 9-10pm.
Sun. Sept. 11 scouts to attend a reading at Christ United Methodist Church with other scouts in the area – after
the late service.
Sun. Sept. 11 possible attendance at Hatfield Firehouse event.
Sept. 16 weekend trip to Voorhees State Park. Perm. Slips are out tonight.
Sept. 24 picnic – 2:00 setup/start; 5:00 dinner followed by bonfire/COH.
John Harris may request his Eagle COH to be held Thanksgiving weekend.
Sept. 8 Board of Reviews
Outdoor/Activities Report -
Troop Picnic – Mike D. requested estimate for attendance – given ~150. He will coordinate games.
$600. is budgeted for the picnic. Mike R. will get the fire permit. Mike requested extra water hose.
Training Report -
Doug stated Committee Challenge required for all committee members, as well as This Is Scouting, Fast Start,
Youth Protection.
Sat. Nov. 5 is the University of Scouting training day.
Advancement Report -
Ann reported all is ready for the next Court of Honor.
Fundraising Report -
Fri. Sept. 23 is the start of troop popcorn sales. We do have a 4-hour spot at a Wawa.
John has ordered $20,000. Popcorn to sell. He would like to do a presentation at the picnic. Also focus on
personal sales noting this works 3:1 times better. Also focus on Class A uniforms when selling.
