Dear Mr. Hosek,
I am writing you regarding your "senior level controls engineer"
position announcement recently sent to MIT Mechanical Engineering
email list, that I found extremely interesting.
I recently received my PhD degree from Mechanical Engineering
Department of MIT. For my PhD dissertation, I worked on a path
planning problem for Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs). I
approached the path planning problem for adaptive sampling in an
optimization framework and developed methods and algorithms using
state-of-the-art optimization softwares such as X-Press MP and ILOG.
Before that, during my Masters studies, I had the chance to work on
a biotechnology robotics project and develop necessary hardware and
software skills.
During my PhD studies one of my minors was control, therefore I took
a variety of dynamics and control classes as you can see in my attached resume
(such as Advanced System Dynamics and Control, Mechatronics,
Robotics and Mechatronics etc…) and had both theoretical and
hands-on experience on motion control, robotics and control
applications at large. I studied fluid mechanics both at undergraduate and at graduate level.
During my undergraduate studies I took courses on heta and mass transfer and got a patent for
a compact solar energy system. As long as my Computer Science skills are
concerned, I did a minor in Computer Science during my undergraduate
studies. I have background in C# and ".NET". I developed for the robotics system I worked
on for my Masters thesis project. I used MATLAB in many occasions
and also during my coursework I used Simulink extensively for
simulation and real-time control applications.
Enclosed you will find my resume that provides a comprehensive
summary of my education and experience. For I have done related work
during my graduate studies, I am very interested in learning more
about the "senior level controls engineer position". Realizing
that email contact might not be best mode of communication, I will
appreciate the opportunity to speak with you personally to gather
more information about the position and further discuss my
qualifications for this position.
Yours Truly,
Namik Kemal Yilmaz
PS: I will be out of country till mid-December. Until then best way
to reach me will be email.
