You will be creating a PowerPoint presentation that you will submit to me. You will not
need to get up in front of the class to present this so all information must be included in
your slides. Please look at the listed guidelines carefully. A grading rubric (scale) is also
available on the web site.
Guidelines for PowerPoint Slides
You will be creating a PowerPoint presentation on the career that you chose to
research. Following the Career Research Worksheet, you will need to create a
slide(s) for each question on the worksheet.
There will be no required amount of slides; however, you must be complete in
your presentation. This will not be a typical PowerPoint presentation, as brevity
will not be accepted.
In some cases, you may want to break the question up into parts and present each
part with its own slide. For example: disadvantages would go on one slide, while
advantages will go on another. You will also want to break up information listed
on your worksheet at A, B,C,... into individual slides.
You will be graded not only on the thoroughness of the information that you
provide, but also how to present this information. Be aware of font sizes and
colors, background colors, and sounds. As this presentation will be created as a
complete presentation and not one in the background, you will need to pay close
attention to the details of the slides. Make sure titles are clear, graphics are
relevant and add, not distract from the information, sounds enhance the
presentation and don’t annoy the viewer, etc.
Writing and Mechanics also play an important role in your grade. Make sure that
you proofread carefully. You may have a wonderful presentation with excellent
information; however, if there is an abundance of spelling, grammar, and
punctuation errors, you will lose a significant amount of points.
Through your PowerPoint presentation, you will need to show me that you have
taken thoughtful reflection of your strengths, weaknesses, abilities, and skills, and
that you have applied this analysis to a possible career choice that both interests
you and that you feel you have the skills to succeed in. After viewing your
presentation, I should have a very good handle on what the career entails and how
you feel that you will excel at this career choice.
When you have completed your presentation, print off the slide show to be
included in your portfolio. Save this presentation to your school accounts. I will
be going into your accounts to view the presentations. Make sure you use a
readily recognizable name and one that is school appropriate.
