Instructions for Visa applicants
There is no fee for The Bahamas Visa Application Form
The Bahamas Embassy in Beijing will process entry visas for The Bahamas for persons resident in the
People’s Republic of China who require a visa to enter The Bahamas. The Embassy will accept visa
applications in person on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm.
The Embassy also accepts mail-in applications from the following Asian and Pacific countries and
dependencies: Australia, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Brunei, Cambodia, Cook Islands, East Timor, Fiji, French
Polynesia, Guam, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Kiribati, Laos, Macao, Malaysia, Marshall Islands,
Micronesia (Federated States of), Mongolia, Myanmar, Nauru, Nepal, New Caledonia, New Zealand, Niue,
North Korea, Northern Mariana Islands, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Pitcairn, Republic of China
(Taiwan), Samoa, Singapore, Solomon Islands, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Tokelau, Tonga, Tuvalu,
Vanuatu, Vietnam, and Wallis and Futuna.
Persons wishing to work in The Bahamas must submit the application for a work permit through their
prospective employer to the Director of Immigration in The Bahamas.
Walk-In & Mail-In Visa Applicants must submit the following:
1. Application form completed in English using block letters (DOE, JOHN) and black or blue ink only.
2. A passport, valid for at least 6 months beyond the date of arrival in The Bahamas, and having at least
one blank visa page.
3. Two colour 45mm X 35mm passport photographs taken within 6 months of the date of application.
The photographs should be full face (without sunglasses), taken against a white background and should
be clear and of good quality. The name of the applicant must be written on the back of the
photograph.
4. Copy of travel itinerary (air or cruise) or return ticket, or in the case of private or chartered service, a
letter confirming the date of travel with English translation, if applicable. Applicant should have a
transit visa, if required, for any countries to be transited en route to The Bahamas.
5. Certified copy of character/police certificate issued by country/city/province where currently domiciled
with notarized English translation.
6. Certified copies of all documents related to the applicant’s immigration status in the country of
residence, with notarized English translations, if resident in a country other than the country of
citizenship.
7. Evidence of current employment or occupation. For self-employed persons, a certified copy of the
business licence/registration is required, if applicable, in addition to general information about the
business i.e. type of company, year of establishment, number of employees.
8. Evidence of monthly income or a bank letter indicating banking history for the past two years, with
notarized English translation.
9. The applicant must submit the Hukou (family registration book) if applicable, with a notarized English
translation.
10. Letter of invitation, with notarized English translation, if applicable,
11. A (non-refundable) 400 RMB or US$55 visa processing fee for a single entry visa or 470 RMB or
US$65 for a multiple entry visa, which should be paid by cash or money order made payable to the
Embassy of The Bahamas. (Please note that it takes 45 days for a US money order to clear in the
PRC.) * Applicants who prefer to wire transfer visa fees can contact the Embassy for transfer details.
12. Any other documentation requested by the Embassy.
Applications will be considered, in the first instance, only for a single entry visa. An application may
be considered for a multiple entry visa, provided the application is supported in writing, with
pertinent documentation attached.
Note: All applicants who wish to have their passports returned by mail must provide
a pre-paid courier envelope or a pre-paid airway bill for courier service. Applicants
should check with the nearest courier or postal service for appropriate fees.
Note: Mail-In Applicants – The Embassy recommends that all mail-in applications
be sent via courier. Such applications MUST include a pre-paid courier
envelope/airway bill and all original documentation and certified translations, where
applicable to enable timely processing. Should the applicant require any original
documents to be returned, please include copies, along with the originals, in the
submission. Please note that the Embassy takes no responsibility for any documents
lost in transit.
