MOSCOW (Day 1)

This afternoon embark on MS Volga Dream to begin your journey on
the Russian waterways. Enjoy scenic views of the Moscow-Volga man-
made canal as the ship sails off from Moscow.

UGLICH (Day 2)

When one arrives in Uglich, they discover that they are in one of the oldest Russian towns,
which dates from 937. The town has retained a lot of its original charm. Enjoy a walking tour of
Uglich to appreciate its traditional wooden architecture, its quaint churches and intricate history.
It was in Uglich that two dynasties of the Russian tsars were inconceivably connected. Ivan the
Terrible’s son, Prince Dmitry, the last of the Rurick dynasty, met his mysterious death here.
Ksenia Shestova, the mother of the first tsar of the Romanov dynasty, Mikhail Romanov, grew
up in Uglich. (Meals: B, L, D)

                                                 5
YAROSLAVL (Day 3)

With more than 10 centuries of history Yaroslavl enjoys a scenic location at the confluence of
the Volga and the Kotorosl rivers. Spared the destruction of World War II, its art and architecture
has survived unscathed into the 21st century. A historical part of the city, a UNESCO World
Heritage site, features a remarkable collection of Russian architecture and art of the 13th-17th
centuries. While visiting the Savior Transfiguration Monastery and the Church of Elijah the
Prophet, you will see some of the most impressive frescoes of all the Old Russian towns.
Yaroslavl is also home of the Russian textile industry, still famous all over the country today,
and the Russian Drama Theater. (Meals: B, L, D)

GORITSY (Day 4)
Enjoy the spectacular scenery as you sail
through the White Lake and the Volga-Baltic
canal, finally docking in Goritsy. You will step
back into medieval times while exploring this
extraordinary picturesque town. One of the
highlights you will visit is the Kirill-Belozersky
Monastery. Founded by the hermit Cyril in
1397, it was recently named the winner of a competition to become one of “The New Seven
Wonders of Russia.” (Meals: B, L, D)

KIZHI (Day 5)

Cruising Onega Lake, you will reach tiny, picturesque Kihzi Island. It is a
unique open-air museum of wooden architecture and home to some of
Russia’s most famous intricately designed wooden edifices. You will tour

                                                6
the Kihzi Pogost, a UNESCO World Heritage site, which features a remarkable Transfiguration
church. Built entirely of wood with no nails and crowned with 22 wood-shingled onion domes, it
resembles something straight out of a Russian fairytale. You will also see the Church of the
Resurrection of Lazarus, the oldest wooden church in Russia and come to know the many local
traditions of Zaonezhie (the lands beyond the Onega Lake). (Meals: B, L, D)

SVIR RIVER, VILLAGE OF MANDROGI (Day 6)

Today, you will cruise the scenic Svir River connecting Onega and Ladoga Lakes. Then visit the
village of Mandrogi, the largest one on the Valaam archipelago. A re-creation of a typical
Russian rural settlement, the village caters to traditional souvenir production including
matryoshka nesting dolls, pottery and lace. (Meals: B, L, D)

ST. PETERSBURG (Day 7)

Arrive in St. Petersburg. Founded by Peter the Great in 1703, this captivating
“Venice of the North” is one of the greatest art cities in the world. This
morning, disembark MS Volga Dream and proceed with independent
arrangements. (Meal: B)
