					The City of Shaker Heights Planning Department has three internship opportunities available
for Summer 2008. They are all unpaid and open to undergraduate- or graduate-level students.

Planning Intern (Part Time)

The City of Shaker Heights Planning Department is seeking a part-time intern to assist planning staff
with ongoing projects and department responsibilities. This is an unpaid position starting in May
2008; flexible hours for 2-3 days per week. The internship is a great way to gain hands-on planning
experience. The planning intern works closely with experienced planning staff on implementation of
redevelopment projects. He/she also works closely with the Zoning and Architectural Board of
Review staff, reviews plans and conducts follow-up visits.




Current project areas include: transit-oriented development; transit station design/construction; bike
route planning; historic preservation; and grant writing.




Applicants should be enrolled in or graduate of a degree program in Architecture, Historic
Preservation, Urban Planning, Urban Studies, Public Administration, Political Science or a related
field. Masters students are welcome.

The City of Shaker Heights Planning Department is seeking a full-time intern to assist planning staff
with ongoing projects and department responsibilities. This is an unpaid position starting in May
2008; a 3-month commitment is requested. The internship is a great way to gain hands-on planning
experience. The Architecture Board/Historic Preservation intern works closely with experienced
Architectural Board of Review staff to review plans, work with applicants and staff board meetings.




Applicants should be enrolled in or graduate of a degree program in Architecture, Historic
Preservation, Urban Planning or a related field. Masters students are welcome.
