Oracle Application Server with Oracle E-Business Suite Release 11i Troubleshooting

This document contains specific troubleshooting tips, discussion of known issues, and their associated workarounds that users may encounter when installing Oracle9i Application Server (9iAS) 1.0.2.2.2 in existing Oracle E-Business Suite Release 11.5.1 to 11.5.5 environments. Some items in this document may also apply to environments created with the Oracle E-Business Suite Release 11.5.7 Rapid Install and higher, which include 9iAS 1.0.2.2.2. This is a companion document to the Oracle Application Server with Oracle E-Business Suite Release 11i Frequently Asked Questions (Note Note 186981.1 on Oracle Metalink ). That document answers frequently asked conceptual questions (FAQ) about 9iAS, Oracle Application Server 10g, and Release 11i. This document is intended for use by customers interested in any of the following components that are delivered as part of Oracle9i Application Server as used in the Oracle E-Business Suite Release 11i technology stack: Oracle Discoverer 4i, Oracle Portal 3.0.9, Login Server, Oracle HTTP Server, and Oracle Developer6i. This document also covers the integration of Release 11i environments with standalone Oracle Application Server 10g instances, including use of Single Sign-On 9.0.4, Oracle Internet Directory 9.0.4, Portal 9.0.4, and Discoverer 10g. The Related Documentation section contains references to the full installation and configuration instructions

for these components. Users are strongly advised to make backups of their environments before executing any of the procedures noted, and to test their environments before executing these procedures in production environments. Some of the procedures in this document may have significant effects on Oracle E-Business Suite Release 11i environments and should be executed only by skilled Oracle EBusiness Suite database or systems administrators. It is important that you read this document and the Related Documentation in their entirety before migrating to 9iAS 1.0.2.2.2 Enterprise Edition. 1. Oracle9i Application Server and Oracle E-Business Suite Release 11i

1. How does one obtain support for this release?

Support for 9iAS 1.0.2.2.2 is available for Oracle E-Business Suite Release 11i environments. File a Technical Assistance Request (TAR) with Oracle Support via Metalink using the following identifying information to ensure that your issue is routed correctly. Selecting the "Type of Problem" value correctly is essential to ensuring that the TAR gets routed to the correct group of support analysts trained in Oracle9i Application Server with the Oracle E-Business Suite Release 11i . Metalink TAR entry screen #1 Product: 510 Oracle Application Object Library Product Version: 1.0.2.2.2 Metalink TAR entry screen #2

Type of Problem: 9iAS Install and Config When describing the problem, provide as many details as possible. For example, which step of which installation document was being performed when the problem arose? What was the command issued or action taken immediately prior to the error? What was the error message? Upload your .xml, config.txt, and appropriate log files with the TAR .

2. General Installation Issues

1. How does one debug general issues with ias1022m.sh?

The ias1022m.sh shell script is the master script that installs 9iAS 1.0.2.2.2 into an existing Oracle E-Business Suite Release 11i environment. See Oracle Metalink Note 146468.1 , Installing Oracle9i Application Server with Oracle Applications 11i for full instructions for using this script. If you have difficulties running this script: 1. Check $APPL_TOP/admin/adovars.env and confirm that you are using using JRE 118 and not 131. 2. Logon to a fresh session, source APPSORA.env and do a which jre. It should return something like /d1/user4/1155iAS/ap481s03comn/util/jre/1.1.8/bin/jre 3. Do not source any environment files before running ias1022m.sh.The script knows what environment files are to be sourced. Check whether any environment variables related to Java are set in the environment (e.g. which java, which jre, echo $JAVA_HOME, echo $CLASSPATH, etc).

2. Some files appear to be missing after the 9iAS install

The orainst Motif installer did not run to completion if files appear to be missing in some key areas after running the ias1022m.sh shell script, notably the following subdirectories: /rdbms/lib /discwb4 If the Motif installer starts and closes very quickly, it did not work -- and did not throw an error. The installation fails because the client X server or X emulator is not set up correctly to run the 8.0.6 orainst Oracle Installer in Motif mode. The Oracle Installer only supports displays that use 256 colors or less. The following Oracle Metalink notes are available for debugging and resolving this issue: 170931.1 , 165516.1

3. Patch 1902868 triggers error: "ORA-29521: referenced name oracle/xml/sql/dml/OracleXMLSave could not be found."

You are trying to load a Java application into the database. The loadjava command may fail with the error noted above. A workaround is documented in detail in Oracle Metalink Note 160117.1 .

4. Running ias1022m.sh reverts Thin Client Framework Servlet

implementation settings

Oracle Metalink Note 164942.1 documents implementation steps required to support Thin Client Framework (TCF) Socket Server deployments. Installing 9iAS 1.0.2.2.2 onto a system where TCF Servlets have been implemented may overwrite configuration file settings required by TCF. Workaround: after installing 9iAS, redo the TCF Servlet implementation steps.

5. "No patch install is required" when attempting to install Oracle HTTP Server Patch 2488351 for the first time

When attempting to install Oracle HTTP Server Patch 2488351 for the first time, runInstaller may display the error, "You have the latest patch level. No patch install is required." This error may occur when the environment is not pointing to the correct ORACLE_HOME. Ensure that your environment is pointing to the [NEW_HTTP_ORACLE_HOME] and reapply the patch using runInstaller. This error may also occur if the UNIX account applying the patch does not have the appropriate permissions to write to the subdirectory where the oraInventory is located. Update the permissions on the subdirectory where the oraInventory is located as appropriate and reapply the patch using runInstaller. Note: Patch 2488351 is now obsolete and has been replaced by Patch 2674529 . All users are encouraged to upgrade to Patch 2674529.

3. General Configuration Issues

1. What are some potential issues after implementing HTTP Layer loadbalancing for Release 11i?

After implementing HTTP Layer load-balancing with certain hardware-based loadbalancers (including F5, Cisco, and Alteon hardware), certain Release 11i components such as the Portal Parallel Engine and jtflogin.jsp may generate session timeout errors or not work properly. Other services, including the Forms Servlet Listener and Discoverer servlet, may continue to function. To resolve these issues, ensure that you have installed the latest AutoConfig templates specified in Oracle Metalink Note 217368.1 and that the AutoConfig Web Server Host context value is set to the hardware-based load-balancer. Then verify whether an application-tier server node can establish a loopback connection to itself. For example, try to establish a telnet session from the application-tier server node to itself. If the connection is refused, consult your load-balancer documentation for procedures to enable Secure Network Address Translation (SNAT) or Virtual Local Area Network (VLAN) support for your network. To resolve these issues, verify whether an application-tier server node can establish a loopback connection to itself. For example, try to establish a telnet session from the application-tier server node to itself. If the connection is refused, consult your loadbalancer documentation for procedures to enable Secure Network Address Translation

(SNAT) or Virtual Local Area Network (VLAN) support for your network.

2. How can one monitor the performance of Java Virtual Machines started by mod_oprocmgr after implementing JServ layer Load-balancing for Release 11i?

After implementing JServ Layer load-balancing following Oracle Metalink Note 217368.1 , mod_oprocmgr starts all Java Virtual Machines (JVMs) specified by the nproc AutoConfig parameter. With mod_oprocmgr, all JVMs start at the same time, and mod_oprocmgr monitors them via a heartbeat death-detection process, killing and restarting hung JVMs as needed. The performance and utilization of JVMs can be monitored via the Dynamic Monitoring Service included with Oracle9i Application Server 1.0.2.2.2 , see Oracle 9i Application Server HTTP Server [Part 3] on the Oracle Technology Network .

3. Concurrent Managers fail to start with GSM enabled

Concurrent managers may fail on startup with the error, "Could not establish connection to Service Manager. afpsmcsm exiting with error 8 . Routine AFPEIM encountered an error while starting concurrent manager FNDCRM with library /bravo/OT03appl/fnd/11.5.0/bin/FNDCRM." This has been reported on AIX and HP platforms and appears to be a generic issue. This is caused by the script $FND_TOP/admin/template/afcpgsm.sql Version 115.0 which is run as a part of AutoConfig which sets the profile option CONC_GSM_ENABLED to Y. This script should not be run unless FND patchset D or other relevant GSM patches are applied. Workaround: Query up the profile option %gsm% from applications and set this value to 'N'.

4. Memory leak causes JVM instability

Java Virtual Machines (JVMs) servicing an Internet Procurement environment may experience memory leaks. Over time, these memory leaks may cause JVM instability and unexpected behavior. Apply patch 2304513 to resolve this.

4. Discoverer Issues

1. How does one debug general Discoverer Server connection issues?

a. Make sure the OAD is running: See the Discoverer Server 4i Configuration Guide, section 2.3.1 for details. This document is installed along with Discoverer 4i. b. Check whether Session, Collector and Preferences have been registered with the OAD on the server. Open a command prompt and give the following command: C:\>osfind

The output list shows all of the components running on the network: HOST: machinename REPOSITORY ID: IDL:DCISessionManager:1.0 OBJECT NAME: machinenameOracleDiscovererSession4 REPOSITORY ID: IDL:DCICollector:1.0 OBJECT NAME: machinenameOracleDiscovererCollector4 REPOSITORY ID: IDL:DCICORBAInterface:1.0 OBJECT NAME: machinenameOracleDiscovererPreferences4 If the Session , Collector and Preferences components are not in the list, then register each component by issuing Start -> Oracle Discoverer 4i setup -> Register Preferences Start -> Oracle Discoverer 4i setup -> Register Session Start -> Oracle Discoverer 4i setup -> Register Collector c. If this issue is occurring on a multiple IP machine, check Oracle Metalink Note 140023.1 for information about configuring Discoverer Server with clusters. d. Jserv may not be up or may have died. Check whether the following test URLs work: http://:/servlets/IsItWorking http://:/OA_HTML/jsp/fnd/fndping.jsp e. Check that the locator is running. Verify whether any log files are present in following directory: [806_HOME]/discwb4/util. Check the following log files for errors: locator.log, oad.log, and osagent.log. f. Check whether the Discoverer services were started from a clean environment using the startall.sh script in [806_HOME]/discwb4/util. Locator may not start on HP-UX if you have sourced APPSORA.env due to collisions between different JRE library versions. g. Run stopall.sh from [806_HOME]/discwb4/util and run startall.sh again. Watch for errors on the console, and check the Locator logs for errors in /appsdisk3/NEW_80HOME/806/discwb4/util/locator.log. A clean start-up should show something like Started osagent Started OAD Discoverer Locator Started If the locator still doesn't start, make a copy of pref.txt and edit the field MachineIPs ="" Enter your machine's IP address here, run applypreferences.sh and restart the processes.

2. How does one debug Discoverer Viewer connection issues?

Attempting to connect using Discoverer Viewer yields the following error: "Internal

Server Error: The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request." The following error may be logged: "File does not exist: //comn/portal/discoverer/viewer" Make the following changes in the disco4iviewer.properties file under the "//9iAS/iAS/Apache/Jserv/etc/" directory: Change "Viewer" to "viewer" in the "servlets.startup" parameter. Check the Apache default port in the two elements called "servlet.viewer.init.Args". Ensure that these are correctly set for your configuration.

3. Encountering problems when upgrading Noetix-generated Discoverer 3i content to Discoverer 4i

Noetix is a third-party tool that can generate or modify business areas and folders in Discoverer End-User Layers originally created using the Discoverer 3i Administration Edition. In some cases, Noetix corrupts the Discoverer 3i End User Layer metadata, preventing upgrade of the 3i End User Layer to 4i. Oracle Discoverer does not support upgrading End User Layers that have been modified by third-party tools. Noetix Support recommends that Noetix customers obtain EUL Generator Build 266 or greater which contains a fix for an End User Layer integrity problem before attempting an in place Discoverer 3.1 to 4.1 migration. This fix may not be address all issues, and Noetix users are advised to contact Noetix Support (http://www.noetix.com ) for additional assistance in resolving this issue.

5. Portal Issues

1. How does one debug Portal issues?

The Oracle9i Portal Diagnostics Agent generates a log file summarizing Portal configuration information that is useful when troubleshooting Portal-related issues. Details about how to obtain and use the Portal Diagnostics Agent can be found in Oracle Metalink Note 169490.1 .     If users are unable to sign on, verify hostnames and port numbers in the Portal logon URLs. If portlets are not accessible, check the Function security setup. Ensure that the application providers are correctly registered and refreshed. If pages are not accessible, check the pages' security definitions and access control privileges in Portal. If displayed page content differs from what is expected, check the cache settings for the page. Clear the cache and perform a page refresh.

2. Portal installation fails with "ORA-6510: unhandled user-defined exception" error

Installation of Portal may fail at 50% and log the error, "ORA-6510: PL/SQL: unhandled user-defined exception" in install.log when running

ssoinsd.sql via $IAS_HOME/assistants/opca/launch.sh. If this occurs, use the following workaround: a. Delete the portal users and objects from the Applications database and restart the installation with launch.sh b. Open another terminal session and change the working directory to [iAS_HOME]/portal30/admin/plsql/wwc c. Issue the following commands after launch.sh creates the portal30 and portal30_sso users: loadjava -resolve -user portal30/portal30 SSOHash.class loadjava -resolve -user portal30_sso/portal30_sso SSOHash.class

3. Registering the Oracle Applications Framework Web Provider fails during the call to Web provider with error "404: Not Found"

Post-installation steps documented in the RELNOTES.HTM file from the Portal 3.0.9.8.2 patch set to unzip jpdk.zip and modify jserv.properties may have been skipped. Ensure that the provider.jar is in the classpath in jserv.properties, and that jpdk.zip has been unzipped in the 9iAS 1.0.2.2.2 ORACLE_HOME. Also check that JPDK 3.0.9.0.5 and patches 2168087, 2232341, and 2073522 have been applied successfully.

4. Registering the Oracle Applications Framework Web Provider fails with WWC-43134 error

Attempting to register the web provider may result in the error: "An error occurred when attempting to call the providers register function. (WWC43134) An unexpected error occurred: ORA-29532: Java call terminated by uncaught Java exception: java.lang.ExceptionInInitializerError (WWC-43000)" Using SQL*Plus, from the 8.1.7.1 ORACLE_HOME as internal execute the following: SQL> call dbms_java.grant_permission('SYS','SYS:java.util.PropertyPermissio n', '*','write'); commit; SQL> call dbms_java.grant_permission('SYS','SYS:java.util.PropertyPermissio n', '*','read'); commit;

5. Configuring Oracle Applications Framework Web Provider yields error: "oracle.jsp.provider.JspCompileException:"

While on step 10 of Oracle Metalink Note 139863.1 , substep IV may fail with the error: "oracle.jsp.provider.JspCompileException: Errors compiling:/[...]/html/_pages/_oa__html//_OA.java Line # 79 Wrong number of arguments in method. String redirectURL = pageBean.preparePage(pageContext, akRegion, applId);" The latest version of OA.jsp accepts only a single argument. Use ident to check the

versions of OA.jsp in your $FND_TOP/html and $OA_HTML directories. Copy the newer version of OA.jsp from $FND_TOP/html to $OA_HTML and rerun adadmin to recompile all invalid objects.

6. Accessing the Applications Navigator yields error: "java.lang.IndexOutOfBoundsException"

Attempting to access the Applications Navigator via the Oracle Applications Framework Web Provider may yield the following error: "oracle.apps.fnd.framework.OAException: java.lang.IndexOutOfBoundsException". To resolve this issue: 0. Log into Portal as the Portal Administrator and navigate to: Administer tab > Provider Portlet > Edit Portlet 1. Delete the existing entry for the Oracle Applications Framework Web Provider 2. Recreate a new entry for the Oracle Applications Framework Web Provider (see Step 6 in Oracle Metalink Note 146469.1 )

7. User cannot see available portlets although Oracle Applications Framework Web Provider has been successfully published

After logging into Portal, users cannot see some or all of the portlets listed in the Portlet Repository even though the Oracle Applications Web Provider has been successfully published. Users should be able to see up to eleven Applications portlets, depending on the responsibilities granted to them. To resolve this issue:   Log into Portal as the Portal Administrator and ensure that the OAFrameworkWebProvider folder containing the portlets has been made public (Step 5.3.3). Before displaying a list of available portlets to users, Portal checks whether users have sufficient rights to view the portlets. Portal will not display a given portlet to a user if the user does not have access to it. To check this, log into Oracle Applications 11i as a System Administrator and ensure that users have been assigned a responsibility with a menu that includes the portlets (Step 6.2). By default, the four available portlets are assigned to the "Preferences - Self Service Web Applications" responsibility. Refresh the Portal Repository to ensure that the new web provider information definition is current. Log on to Portal with administrator rights and navigate to: Administer tab > Provider portlet > Display Portlet Repository. Click on "Refresh" in the top right hand corner. Bounce the JServ to refresh the Java cache for mod_plsql. User responsibilities, menus and functions are cached by JServ on the application tier server node. If a new responsibility is added to a user, the new responsibility may not appear until the JServ is bounced. To test whether Java caching is causing this behaviour, stop and restart JServ. If bouncing the JServ temporarily addresses the problem, apply AOL/J patchset 2673569 to resolve the issue. Clear the Portal cache:  By default, the Portal cache directory can also be found from gateway.htm file. For example: http://servername:port/pls/admin_/gateway.htm

  

Click on the "Cache Settings" option Set "Enable PLSQL Caching" to "Yes". By default this is "No", which means Portal caching is not enabled. If this is set to "Yes", note the "Cache Directory" and manually delete the contents of that directory Scroll down to see whether "Session Caching" is enabled. If "Yes", note the "Cache Directory" and manually delete the contents of that directory.

8. Buttons and tabs for AK HTML forms appear garbled with Japanese language setting

Portal was successfully installed into a UTF-8 environment configured for Japanese, but buttons and tabs for AK HTML forms (e.g. AK Attributes) may appear garbled. A font with the appropriate Unicode glyphs is required to enable Oracle UIX Dynamic Images (formerly called Tecate) technology to work in multilingual environments correctly. There are five Albany family Unicode fonts that support this: Generic without East Asian languages, Japanese, Korean, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese. These Albany fonts need to be installed on the application tier server node where Jserv is running. Full installation instructions can be found Oracle Metalink Note 134375.1 , Using UTF8 Character Set with Applications Release 11i.

9. Performance Management Viewer portlet displays garbled titles for NLS languages

The E-Business Intelligence Performance Management Viewer is not NLS-compliant and displays non-English character strings as garbage. BIS Development is currently working on an NLS-compliant release of the Performance Management Viewer.

10. Inconsistent behavior when changing Portal language settings

Changing the Portal language setting in Preferences may not consistently change the language settings of a page's portlets. This is under investigation. Manually changing the Portal language setting for a current session may not immediately register within a given portlet. Workaround: force a refresh of the portlet's language setting by activating the portlet, e.g. by expanding the menu displayed in the "List of Applications" portlet.

11. Portlet shows "Please login" prompt instead of expected portlet content

When a Portal page is displayed, one or more portlets may display a "Please login" prompt instead of their expected portlet content. This prompt suggests that OA Framework is unable to get the ICX session cookie value. This may caused by one or more of the following: An incorrectly set or missing JServ cookie domain entry in the zone.properties file. Verify that Step 5.2 in Metalink Note 146469.1 has been completed successfully. a. OA Framework Web Provider has been defined as 'Public' instead of 'User'. Verify that 'User' has been selected while entering the web provider registration information in Step 5.3.3 in Metalink Note 146469.1 . b. Applications 11i user cookies are not being cleared by calling the icx_admin_sig.startover function on Portal logout. Verify that Step 6.4.7 in Metalink Note 146469.1 has been completed successfully. .

12. Refresh Portal repository fails with ORA-06550

'BSC_PORTLET_P3GRAPH.GET_PORTLET'

Attempting to refresh the Portal repository for the first time after installation may result in the error: ORA-06550: line 1, column 7: PLS-00201: identifier 'BSC_PORTLET_P3GRAPH.GET_PORTLET' must be declared Form functions for Balanced Scorecard have been incorrectly delivered as part of the 11.5.7 Maintenance Pack (Bug 2410528 ). Apply patch 2410528 to resolve this.

13. Accessing Forms responsibilities via Portal fails with 'APP-FND-01931 : Your session is no longer valid'

Invoking a Forms responsibility via the Personal Home Page works. Logging into Portal using the same userid and invoking the same Forms responsibility may fail with the error: "APP-FND-01931 : Your session is no longer valid." Apply patch 2190393 to resolve this.

14. Second user session on same browser inherits access from first user session

When a user logs out of Portal, the cookie information in their browser cache must be cleared by calling the icx_admin_sig.startover function. If this function is not called on exit, the Applications 11i encrypted cookie remains in the user's browser cache. If a second user signs on to Portal using the same PC, the second user will have access to the first user's responsibilities. In Oracle Metalink Note 146469.1 , see Step 6.4.7, "Define Logout Link to Clear User's Application 11i Cookie on Logout" for instructions on calling this function whenever users log out.

15. Applications Navigator portlet displays responsibilities but not forms and submenus in right-hand pane

Release 11i environments running Portal 3.0.9, Oracle Applications Framework 5.7H, and AOL Java Rollup Patch I (Patch 2673569) may experience the following problem: the Applications Navigator Portal displays a user's responsibilities in the left-hand pane, but associated forms and submenus are not displayed in the right-hand pane. Apply patch 2900190 to resolve this issue.

6. Oracle Internet Directory , Single Sign-On & Security Issues

1. How does one debug Oracle Internet Directory 3.0.1 synchronization issues?

a. Check if running the "Synchronize with LDAP information" concurrent program with a Synchronization Mode of "ALL" completes successfully. If that fails, scheduled future events to synchronize the external LDAP directory changes with OID will also fail. b. Verify that all of the users in the OID directory specified in global preferences

exist in FND_USER. If the users are not moved over to FND_USER, check if the global preferences are set correctly. c. Make sure the LDAP username and password are valid and have superuser privileges, and that the host and port information is correct by logging onto OID directly using that information. d. Check if the OID user rows are reaching the intermediate table wf_attribute_cache. If the rows are making it this far but not into FND_USER, then the Business Event System may not be configured correctly. e. Check if users can be queried from the command line using ldapsearch and the values specified in the global workflow LDAP preferences by issuing the following command: $ORACLE_HOME/bin/ldapsearch -v -h -p -s sub -b "" "cn=*" f. Check that the changelog entries can be queried from the command line using ldapsearch by issuing the following command: $ORACLE_HOME/bin/ldapsearch -v -h -p -s sub -b \ "cn=WF_LDAP_SYNCH,cn=Subscriber Profile,cn=ChangeLog Subscriber,\ cn=Oracle Internet Directory" "cn=*"

2. Person_id not synchronized when using Oracle Directory Integration Human Resources Agent

When using the Human Resources (HR) Agent with the Oracle Directory Integration Server included with Oracle Internet Directory 3.0.1, the person_id field may not be loaded into the OID directory when synchronized with Oracle Human Resources. For details on resolving this issue, see Oracle Metalink Note note 216117.1 .

3. Running ssooid.sql generates error: PLS-00363: expression 'P_SESSION' cannot be used as an assignment target

While following Oracle Metalink Note note 146469.1 , section 3.2, step 1, attempting to execute ssooid.sql may generate the following error: Warning: Package Body created with compilation errors. Errors for PACKAGE BODY WWSSO_AUTH_EXTERNAL: LINE/COL ERROR -------- ---------------------------------------------------------------81/5 PL/SQL: Statement ignored 81/36 PLS-00363: expression 'P_SESSION' cannot be used as an assignment target To resolve this, apply patch 2307171

4. Launching Forms responsibilities from Personal Home Page fails for external passwords

OID has been implemented and users can log into Self Service Web Applications but

Forms sessions may not work. The Forms menu is blank and shows the following error: FRM-40735: WHEN-NEW-FORM-INSTANCE trigger raised unhandled exception ORA-06502. Apply patch 2190393 to resolve this.

5. URLs fail with 403 Forbidden error when integrating Single-Sign with Netegrity

URLs built by the ICX Forms Launcher may contain characters that Netegrity considers illegal. These illegal characters include "," (comma), ">" (greater than), and others. Netegrity's "CSSChecking" parameter may be set to reject URLs containing these characters; if so, Netegrity will yield a "403 Forbidden" error. To resolve this, add the following lines to the WebAgent.conf file: BadCssChars="" badurlchars="//, ./, /., /*, *., ~, \, %00-%1f,%7f-%ff, %25, %25U, %25u" After updating WebAgent.conf, bounce the Apache listener on the application tier server node. Netegrity is a third-party security solution and this fix may not be address all issues. Netegrity users are advised to contact Netegrity Support (http://www.netegrity.com ) for additional assistance in resolving this issue.

6. Netegrity Web Agent inundates Siteminder Server with excessive requests

Running Oracle Internet Directory with Netegrity Siteminder may result in excessive authentication request volumes upon logging into Oracle E-Business Suite Release 11i. The Netegrity Siteminder Web Agent Apache plug-in module may ignore maxsocketsperport, minsocketsperport, and newsocketstep settings in certain configurations. This may result in the Netegrity Siteminder Web Agent generating excessive authentication requests to the Siteminder Policy Server. The Siteminder Policy Server may then fail when the number of child processes requesting authentication requests exceeds the number of available sockets. This is a known issue with Netegrity Siteminder. Workaround: update the ignoreurl parameter in WebAgent.conf to stop authentication requests for insecure content. For example: ignoreext=".js, .jsp, .css, .jar, .htm, .html, .class, .gif, .jpg, .jpeg, . png, .fcc, .scc, .ccc, .ntc, .sfcc" After updating WebAgent.conf, bounce the Apache listener on the application tier server node. Netegrity is a third-party security solution and this fix may not be address all issues. Netegrity users are advised to contact Netegrity Support (http://www.netegrity.com ) for additional assistance in resolving this issue.

7. Authentication of WebADI users fails in a Single Sign-On environment

WebADI users in a Single Sign-on environment are prompted to log in when they click on a List of Values in an Excel spreadsheet, but are unable to log in successfully. This is under investigation.

7. Platform-specific issues for Sun Solaris

1. Discoverer Viewer startup may trigger excessive CPU consumption on application tier server node

User requests for Discoverer Viewer invoke the dis4ws process on the application tier server node. At the same time automountd may become very active and consume significant amounts of CPU resources. After a delay of varying time, the Discoverer login page appears and the user may be able to continue using Viewer as usual. Discoverer Viewer may be looking for libraries under /opt/SUNWspro6.1/lib when starting, resulting in excess automountd activity if LD_LIBRARY_PATH does not contain /usr/lib. If /usr/lib is not in the LD_LIBRARY_PATH, the Solaris runtime linker may attempt to look under /opt/SUNWspro6.1/lib, causing automountd to try and mount those directories. Workaround: add the following line in discwb.sh: LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/lib:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH before the following line: export LD_LIBRARY_PATH

8. Platform-specific issues for Hewlett-Packard HP-UX

1. Special considerations for HP Multi-Computer/Serviceguard users

Users of HP Multi-Computer/Serviceguard may have added a hostname DNS alias in the Oracle E-Business Suite Release 11i config.txt file to support Serviceguard failover. The presence of this aliased hostname may prevent ias1022m.sh from running to completion, and that script may hang. Monitoring the script's process may show that CPU resources are being consumed without any accompanying logical or physical reads. If you encounter this behavior in an HP MC/Serviceguard environment, stop the ias1022m.sh process, temporarily substitute the actual server name in config.txt instead of the MC/Serviceguard alias, and restart ias1022m.sh. After the script completes successfully, restore the original MC/Serviceguard alias in config.txt.

2. Error PLS-00323: subprogram or cursor 'SET_EXTERNAL_COOKIES' error after installing Portal 3.0.9.8.1

This has been reported on HP-UX and Solaris platforms. After installing Portal 3.0.9.8.1, the ssoxoid.pkb package may not be copied into [IAS_OHOME]/portal30/admin/plsql/sso. Running the ssooid.sql script yields the following error: 108/13 PLS-00323: subprogram or cursor 'SET_EXTERNAL_COOKIES' is declared in a package specification and must be defined in the package body

Workaround: Manually copy ssoxoid.pkb from[IAS_OHOME]/portal30/patch-30-9-8-1/sso/ to [IAS_OHOME]/portal30/admin/plsql/sso/

3. Difficulties running ias1022m.sh

The ias1022m.sh shell script is the master script that installs 9iAS 1.0.2.2.2 into an existing Oracle E-Business Suite Release 11i environment. If you have difficulties running this script on HP-UX, verify whether OS patch PHSS_20122 is installed. For more information about this patch, see http://us-support.external.hp.com . In some situations, the ias1022m.sh shell script may appear to hang after entering the location of Disk1 for 9iAS 1.0.2.2.2 Enterprise Edition when the installer attempts to detect the network protocol. For a workaround for this issue, see Oracle Metalink Note 133759.1 .

4. Ports are not freed after shutting down Oracle HTTP Server (Apache)

This is a port-specific issue with HP-UX 11.0. Workaround: reboot the server to free sockets. An operating system patch is available from Hewlett-Packard Support to free sockets from the FIN_WAIT_2 state: Patch PHNE_24715.

9. Platform-specific issues for IBM AIX

1. Long pathnames truncated on AIX

The ias1022m.sh shell script is the master script that installs 9iAS 1.0.2.2.2 into an existing Oracle E-Business Suite Release 11i environment. If you have difficulties running this script, look for long paths required to find the Java Runtime Environment jre executable. If path entries, including $CLASSPATH, are too long, jre may fail. Try to shorten this path. Once shortened, change the variable OA_JRE_TOP in $APPL_TOP/admin/adovars.env to point to that and try re-running ias1022m.sh.

2. LIBPATH reference in adovars.env to native_threads on AIX causes adjava to fail during Developer 6i upgrade

On IBM AIX, applying Patch 1807951 while performing the Developer 6i upgrade may fail with error: "Could not load runtime library: /wload/esfd/app/u2/app/esfdsbox/common/util/jre/1.1.8/lib/aix/nat ive_threads/lib java.a" Check that the existing LIBPATH does not exceed IBM AIX path length limits; excessively long paths will be truncated by the operating system. Workaround: Unset the LIBPATH before running adjava, or shorten the LIBPATH by removing redundant or unnecessary entries. After reducing the LIBPATH length, reapply Patch 1807951.

3. Patch 1902868 triggers large numbers of invalid objects on IBM AIX

Patch 2034971 creates public synonyms for several PL/SQL XML Parser objects (e.g. SYS.XMLDOM, SYS.XMLPARSER and SYS.XSLPROCESSOR). However, these objects

may not be callable unless EXECUTE grants are also provided. Workaround: as SYS user, execute the following: >GRANT EXECUTE ON TO APPS;

4. Child processes owned by AutoConfig-initiated services hang when running ias1022m.sh

Running the ias1022m.sh shell script invokes AutoConfig, which in turn starts several Apache services. These services may hang, which in turn cause AutoConfig and ias1022m.sh to hang. Workaround: look for the logfile $APPL_TOP/admin/log/*.log. Examine the file with the name .log and see whether the last entry logged is for starting up Apache. If so press [CTRL-C] to terminate ias1022m.sh.

5. Login to Forms fails with FRM-40733 error

After installing iAS 1.0.2.2.2, attempting to start a Forms application after entering logging into Applications may yield the following error: FRM-40733: PL/SQL built-in DBMS_ERROR_CODE failed Workaround: shut down and restart the database, then log into Applications again.

6. 9iAS 1.0.2.2.2 installation fails to install Discoverer 4.1.37 on AIX 5.1

This issue applies only to AIX 5L; AIX 4.3.3 or 4.3.4 are unaffected. The 9iAS 1.0.2.2.2 installation may fail to install Discoverer 4.1.37 onto environments created by the Oracle Applications 11.5.1 to 11.5.5 Rapid Install. Workaround: before running the ias1022m.sh shell script, apply patch 2344263 to the 9iAS stage area.

7. 9iAS 1.0.2.2.2 installation fails to install 8.0.6 components on AIX 5.1

This issue applies only to AIX 5L; AIX 4.3.3 or 4.3.4 are unaffected. The 9iAS 1.0.2.2.2 installation may fail to install Oracle Server 8.0.6.x components. When installing Discoverer, the 9iAS 1.0.2.2.2 installation may yield the following error: Unix.vrf(0):FILE_NOT_FOUND while executing /u03/applmgr/p1157ora/8.0.6/orainst/unix.vrf (No such file or directory) Workaround: before running the ias1022m.sh shell script, apply patches 2344263 and 2331549 to the 9iAS stage area.

8. Upgrading Discoverer 4i may result in error when accessing libdcf.so

When attempting to upgrade an installed version of Discoverer 4i to a later version, the installation may stop with the error, "Unable to write to the file

$ORACLE_HOME/discwb4/lib/libdcf.so." This may be caused by the presence of shared libraries in memory that were not shut down properly by AIX prior to beginning the Discoverer upgrade. Workaround: Leave the error message window generated by the Oracle Universal Installer open. Open another terminal window with root privileges and run the slibclean utility to ensure that all shared libraries have been unloaded. After running slibclean, hit the Retry button in the Oracle Universal Installer error message to continue with the installation. It may be necessary to run slibclean more than once.

10. Platform-specific issues for Linux

1. runInstaller fails when installing 9iAS into an existing orainventory location

9iAS 1.0.2.2.2 migration customers on Linux need to apply a compulsory bug fix if installing 9iAS into an existing orainventory location. Apply the fix provided in [IAS_CD]/Disk1/Patches/bug1950378/Disk1/stage to prevent runInstaller from crashing. This issue does not occur if the installation is being performed in an orainventory location where there is no history of any previous installs.

2. Shell script ias1022m.sh fails on Linux SuSE

Linux SuSE SLES7 7.2 customers on Apps 11.5.2 to 11.5.5 will experience failures with shell script ias1022m.sh. Workaround: replace the JRE 1.1.8.X in [COMMON_TOP]/util with the following release from ftp://metalab.unc.edu/pub/linux/devel/lang/java/blackdown.org/JDK-1.1.8/i386/v3/ : jre118_v3-glibc-2.1.3-DYNMOTIF.tar.bz2 . [Sep 21 2000] 5M jre118_v3-glibc-2.1.3.tar.bz2. . . . . . [Sep 21 2000] 6M

3. Reports generation fails after 9iAS 1.0.2.2.2 migration due to missing libjvm.so

Reports generation may fail after 9iAS 1.0.2.2.2 migration if libjvm.so is missing from LD_LIBRARY_PATH. Workaround: edit $APPL_TOP/admin/adovars.env to include [806_OHOME]/network/jre11/lib/i686/native_threads

4. ORA-01400 when running Oracle Portal Configuration Assistant

The Oracle Portal Configuration Assistant (OPCA) may fail in the middle of the Portal installation with ORA-01400. If this occurs, apply Patch 1960803 once the 9iAS 1.0.2.2.2 install is complete and then rerun OPCA.

5. Relink of Forms and Reports Server executables fail with old versions of Motif and XFree

The following Forms and Reports Server executables may fail to relink if the following Motif and XFree packages are not current: ar60desb, ar60runb, f60webmx and flint60. Obtain Open Motif 2.1.30 (http://www.metrolink.com or http://www.ics.com ) and XFree86-libs-4.0.3-5 (http://www.xfree86.org ) and relink the executables.

6. Discoverer stopall.sh script fails to find JRE process on Red Hat Advanced Server

The Discoverer stopall.sh script executes the command ps -aef | grep "....jre1162o/bin" |... On Red Hat Advanced Server, the ps command may not find this JRE process with the default settings and the script will fail. Workaround: Setting the COLUMNS environment variable for the default display width will allow ps to find the JRE process and stop the process correctly. Change the ps default settings by using "export COLUMNS=600".

7. Starting Discoverer Viewer and Discoverer Plus causes dis4ws and dis4pr processes to core dump

Starting Discoverer View and Discoverer Plus may cause the dis4ws and dis4pr processes to core dump with the following error message logged in OAD.log: Activation Daemon: Timed out:The following registration may be invalid: Interface: IDL:DCISessionManager:1.0, Object Name: bovine02OracleDiscovererSession4 Please make sure the implementation is using the correct object name Abort (core dumped) The Linux /etc/hosts file is missing an entry for the Discoverer Server. Enter the server's IP address and hostname in /etc/hosts and restart the Discoverer Object Activation Daemon (OAD), OS Agent, and Locator services.
