Extension Activity: Suki has been told that because she has been such a good customer her supplier is going to give her a discount of 12% on
all of the goods she buys next month. Suki wants you to work out what her profit would have been if she had received this dis count this month.

            TIPS:
Remember - you are now working out discount on COSTS - not Price, and you
need to use ABSOLUTE cell referencing.

Begin by working out the Discount per unit column. The discount for Elbow pads
is 12% x £8.00. How would you write this as a formula? Remember - you need to
ABSOLUTELY always go back to cell C18 for your discount figure.

To work out Suki's new discounted costs, you need to subtract the Discount per unit
            from the Cost per unit.

Suki's Skate Shop - 'What if' Questions
     Question Answer
1 On which product does Suki make the most profit?
2 On which product does Suki make the least profit?
3 Is the product which brings in the least revenue the cheapest?
4 What happens to the profit for elbow pads if costs increase to £9.00
     per unit?
5 What happens to total profit if the number of replacement wheels
     sold increases to 30?
6 What happens to the profit for stickers if the cost per pack increases
     to 60p?
     Extension Questions
Alter the minimum and maximum formula so that they are based on profit and not revenue.
7 What is the new minimum figure - which product is it from?
8 What is the new maximum figure - which product is it from?
9 What happens to total profit if the trade discount offered increases
   to 15%?
10 What happens to total profit if this discount reduces to 7%?

After each question remember to change the spreadsheet back
                        to the original numbers.
