					            YOUTH AMBASSADOR AND LEADERSHIP GROUP INFORMATION SHEET

                                           We want your nomination!

The Youth Ambassador and Leadership Group
We are seeking young people to join the Youth Ambassador and Leadership Group. This group will give young people
the opportunity to advise Council on issues affecting young people in Hume, and enhance their civic participation in
the community. The first task of this group will be to organize the Hume City Council’s Youth Summit 2007.
This group will operate within the Youth Ambassador and Leadership Group Terms of Reference which outline how
the group will operate and its responsibilities. Participants will attend weekly planning and development meetings, and
one formal meeting a month.

Hume City Council’s Youth Summit 2007
Hume City Council will be holding a youth summit on 27 August 2007 which will identify issues that affect young
people in Hume. The summit will hold various workshops and group discussions on issues that young people face in
Hume and will produce several recommendations. The role of the Youth Ambassador and Leadership Group will be to
follow up and act on the recommendations.

Who should apply?
Nominees should:
1) Be aged 15-21 and work, live or study in Hume.
2) Have an understanding and interest in the issues that affect young people in their community
3) Want to have a say and represent young people’s views
4) Be able to work as part of a team
5) Be able to commit to attending group meetings every Tuesday beginning 17 April 2007, 4pm – 6pm.

Selection Process:
Interested young people are invited to apply by completing the attached nomination form.
Written applications are preferred, however if English is your second language or you have difficulty writing we will
accept recorded submissions or telephone interviews.

Nominees will be contacted to attend an information session on Tuesday 17 April at Youth Central, Pearcedale
Parade, Broadmeadows 3047 at 5pm.
Following attendance at the information session nominees will be then be contacted to advise whether their
application has been successful. Unsuccessful nominees will be contacted to provide feedback. Positions will fill up
quickly so get your nomination in now.

Thursday 5th April 2007.
