Senator Robert Lass V. Elections Committee

This is a final statement regarding the case of Michael Wilson and Dustin Klein application for

president and vice president of SGA and the decision made by Elections Committee.

I. Upon receiving the complaint Judicial engaged a discovery into the case. The result was

that the complaint lacked pertinent information.

II. A request for more information was given to both parties involved; Elections committee

was the only one to submit a response.

III. The complaint was then dropped by Senator Lass.

IV. Concerning the applicants: Elections Committee met and decided as a group, what the

course of action would be. Mike Wilson was allowed a new running mate under the

conditions that he get another 125 signature by February 26, 2010.

The following is a timeline of event which occurred to Judicial:

 Submission of complaint: Complaint signed March 4, Received to Judicial March 5

 Discovery: March 8, by Chief Justice Woelfel. Discovery involved Matt Guidry, Scott

Asbach, and the response from Pat Testin. Timeline of events was submitted from Matt

Guidry stating what he viewed during the proceedings.

 Judicial Meeting: March 9, discussion on the validity of the case.

 Response: Patrick Testin, Chair of Elections Committee, March 11.

 Hearing Date: March 11, set the hearing for March 16, 2010

 Complaint Dropped: Senator Lass, March 13, 2010

Note: Judicial did not take Wilson and Klein off the ballot for the elections because the evidence

did not support a strong enough argument to do so. Judicial reasoned that they had already lost

time in their campaign.

Note: The hearing was set to make sure Elections Committee followed protocols.

Note: At the beginning of the discussion, Justice Taylor recused himself, citing the fact that he

knew Senator Lass personally. Chief Justice Woelfel was likewise in consideration of stepping

down.
