Village History
Founded in 1982, Charles Henry Terrell Academy is a Christian, Non-Denominational
Independent Institution, presently located at the old Curtis Baptist High School Building in an
urban area of Augusta, Georgia. The school is accredited by Georgia Accreditation Commission
and the National Private Alliance of America, as an institution that offers primary through
intermediate grade levels.
Charles Henry Terrell Academy, home of the mighty tigers, has an exceptional
reputation throughout the community for an outstanding instructive environment with regard
to the children of the Central Savannah River Area (CSRA).
CHILDREN OF THE VILLAGE
Society’s definition of an ‘at-risk’ pupil states one who is in danger of not graduating
from high school and has the distinctive five characteristics of poverty, single parent
households, ethnicity, educational status of the parent(s), and race. Recent studies by The
National Center for Education Statics (NCES) revealed that differences in student achievement
are related to a child’s surroundings. Students who reside in urban districts perform with least
understanding compared to children who live in the suburbs of key cities.
The enrollment of C.H.T.A. is comprised particularly of students residing in the
communities of the CSRA. One- third of Terrell’s pupils are near or beneath governmental
principles, the majorities are minority students, and half reside from sole- parent domestic
establishments.
In keeping with CHTA’s commitment to serve children defined as “at-risk”. We offer

The Future Village
With strong conviction, the success of the Solid Rock Project envisioned will
promote a projected growth of 10% within a seven year time span. We are asking the
CSRA community and those with a desire for developing quality education to support
our students by helping fund the Solid Rock Project.
The Accomplishment of this capital drive encompasses a debt-free construction

The parental village of Henry Terrell has no regrets. CHTA is a place where a child
encounters an outstanding educational experience who also receives ongoing love and
support regardless of the occasion. C.H. Terrell is a place where the faculty, parents, and
students are a realistic, sound village, which is caring and supportive.
