The catechist will help the student to:
1. Learn that as human persons we are unique as a species and as individuals.

as created by God and made in His image and likeness, with a spiritual,

October 27: Adoration in the Worship Center
A. Instructional Guidelines:
The catechist will help the student to learn:
*1. Understand that the Holy Eucharist is Christ truly present in the Eucharist, Body, Blood,
Soul, and Divinity under the appearance of bread and wine. The Eucharist is the
sacramental re-enactment of Jesus’ sacrifice on Calvary.
*2. Recognize that Jesus is both God and man: the Second Person of the Blessed Trinity,
with two natures, divine and human, and He is the fulfillment of the Promises of the Old

November 17: Unit 8-Human Sin (1 Week)
A. Instructional Objectives:
The catechist will help the student to:
1. Review how Adam and Eve sinned when they refused to trust God.
2. Review the effects of the first sin (original sin) for our first parents.
They damaged their relationship with God. (They lost grace.)
Their wills were weakened.
They felt inclinations to do evil.
They became subject to suffering and death.
3. We have inherited original sin and its effects from Adam and Eve.
*4. Recognize that sin damages, and in the case of mortal sin, destroys our
relationship with God. Every sin also harms others and oneself. We sin when we
disobey God and His Law, whether by thought, word, action or omission.
Serious sin, that is, completely turning away from God, is called “mortal.”
Less than serious sin is called “venial”. (CCC 1849-1876).
*5. Review that Baptism frees us from original sin (CCC 390) (as well as
any actual sins we may have committed before Baptism) and
restores us to friendship (sanctifying grace with God. (CCC 1213)
6. We have a Savior; we have a God who doesn’t leave us orphans. We have
the Holy Spirit to leave us to a life of holiness, sanctity, and joy.

Father to be returned by a human being.

January 12, 2011: Unit 11 Who Am I? (1 Week)
A. Instructional Objectives:
The catechist will help the student to:
1. Learn that only in the mystery of the Incarnate Word (Jesus Christ) does the
mystery of our identity takes on light.
2. Learn that as God, Jesus is the prophet par excellence and that He always reveals the
truth to us.
3. Learn that the truth of Christ comes to us through the life of the Church, especially the
teaching of the Magisterium.
4. Learn that the baptized are called to be authentic prophets to reveal the truth about
God and about how God made them in His image.

A. Instructional Objectives:
The catechist will help the student to:
1. Learn that we must have love revealed to us and that Jesus is the revelation of
perfect love.
2. Learn that we become priests through Baptism and that, as baptized priests,
should imitate the self-sacrificing love of Jesus.
3. Understand our participation in the redemption through the priestly office
of Christ.
4. Recognize that there is an essential difference between the priesthood of the
baptized and the ordained priest, and that the two cooperate in the proper
functioning of the Church.
*5. Understand that the Holy Eucharist is Christ truly present in the Eucharist,

Feast of the Presentation of our Lord.
A. Instructional Objectives:
The catechist will help the student to learn to:
*1. See in the lives of Mary and the saints that we have examples of how
prayer helps one to live the Gospel message. Mary and the saints are
models of Christian prayer. (CCC 2663-2684)
*2. Explain the dogmas concerning Mary, and what is meant by sainthood.
(CCC 487-511;963-75;8a28; 946-59).
*3. See that Mary is a model of prayerful obedience and loving self-
offering for the Church to imitate. The most common of Marian
prayers is the Hail Mary. Other prayers, such as the rosary, litanies,
and hymns honor Mary and seek her assistance. (CCC2673-
2679;971)
4. To review the rosary.
5. To discuss ways in which Mary acted as prophet, priest, and king.
