Jackie Chan return becomes and is able to fend off numerous attacks and
perform incredible stunts. Aided by his hilarious stepmother and friends,
Hong faces the challenge of protecting valuable Chinese history and
saving his family honor.s to the role that made him a star in 1979s Drunken
Master. Chinese folklore hero Wong Fei Hong discovers a smuggling ring,
orchestrated by the British Government, to transport valuable Chinese
artifacts out of the country. Hong must use his unique style of martial arts,
Drunken Boxing, to fight the conspirators and salvage the Chinese
treasures before it
Subtitles are best, its that simple. Nothing beats hearing those quick lines
during the fight scenes in the natural Chinese that the film was meant for.
Its not really a big deal, they can include English overdubbing if they want,
but at least PLEASE keep the original voice-track in. One the bright side,
the voice-overs are generally quite good, and I actually found the fact that
the voice artists had Chinese accents to add to it. Its really kind of lame to
see these Chinese Kung-Fu warriors talking in this artificial perfectly
American accent. This at least made up for the lack of the Chinese
language-track.
Anyway, theres the criticism, it ends there. My only grip really is the lack of
the original language track (and the voice-overs are again good anyway in
case youre not the type to mind). The movie is EXCELLENT!
Not only is the action good, but its quite funny too; it never gets too violent
or gory so its something that the family can enjoy. The action is A+ (Jackie
Chans fight with Tae Kwan Do master in the suit was awesome, the guy
kicks like mad), and it has a good plot too (something alot of action movies
are lacking) with a satisyfing ending. Theres no overly-cheesy humour
here, and its something that would definitely be funny to Western
audiences. The acting is great too, and its definitely a treasured addition to
my DVD collection.
