         This shall be a brief description of the micro-cogeneration package and its function. It shall include the flue type as specified within PD CEN/TR 1749:2005 [10].

     b
         This shall be 230V 50Hz synchronous single phase, 400V 50Hz synchronous three phase (3 wire or 4 wire), or DC (to be declared) volts.

     c
         This shall be internal combustion engine, Stirling engine, fuel cell, or other (If Other the manufacturer is permitted a definition of up to 6 words).

     d
         A full description including reference to relevant standard, as in accordance with 10.2 Where fuel is unconventional a full description should be attached to the report.

     e
       This should correspond to the manufacturer’s advice given to the designer of a heating system for a dwelling, who shall select heating plant of suitable size to meet the heat demand. The
     information is not needed to carry out the laboratory tests, but is needed if the test results are to be used in the method to evaluate the annual energy performance (see “Scope”) for the
     purpose of calculating a seasonal performance index. The design heat loss is the instantaneous heat loss in kW from the dwelling when the temperature differential between inside and
     outside is 20°K. The plant size ratio is the nominal rated heat output of the micro-cogeneration package divided by the design heat loss. For domestic boilers (other than combination
     boilers), the plant size ratio is commonly in the range 1.5 to 1.8. For further information see “Method to evaluate the annual energy performance of micro-cogeneration heating systems in
     dwellings” [2] sections 1.3.3 and 2.5.

The Mircro Cogeneration Annual Performance Method Calculator

What is the calculator?

The calculator determines the Heating Plant Emission Rating and SAP intermediate results for a heat-led micro co-
generation package for a dwelling in the UK.

The method is documented in the Annual Performance Method (APM) report and requires data obtained from
laboratory tests and appliance specification as given in the Publicly Available Standard (PAS 67).

How to use the calculator.
Enter the laboratory results in Results Table 2 and Results Table 3 and Results Table 4. Results Table 3 is only
necesssary for cogen package type RegPk. Also ensure the correct fuel is selected in on "Fuel type". The default is
natural gas.

Only once valid data has been entered will the heating plant emission rating and the intermediate results necessary for
SAP 2005 will appear on the Annual results sheet. Detailed calculations are shown on the "detail results" sheet and
follow the main steps as documented in the APM report .

There is some, but not complete checking on the data entries; so you are also advised to check the input data is
correct.

If no results are produced, check input for errors and correct. Errors messages appear in column U of the Table 2.

To help correct data, diagnostic graphs are provided on sheet "APM table 2 to table 5'. Be sure to only refer to the
appropriate table for the regime selected.

The annual procedure is invalid for island mode and valid for plant size ratios in the range 0.5 to 4.0.
The HPER (seasonal rating) is calculated for four values of the plant size ratio, 0.5, 1.0, 1.5 and 4.
