Motivation
Staying motivated to develop good organizational skills and study habits is important!
Having good organizational skills and study habits will actually make school easier for
you. Good organizational skills and study habits put you in control.
Keep motivated to stay organized, complete homework, and study for tests by doing
these things:
Prioritize the tasks you have to do.
Eliminate (get rid of) distractions. Get rid of clutter in your work
space.
Set small goals for yourself and chart your progress.
Ask for help if you do not understand an assignment. Sometimes
asking for clarification (help) can get you back on track and decrease
frustration.
Break down big assignments into smaller parts and work on the
assignment a little at a time; set dates for completing each part.
Smaller parts will make it seem less overwhelming. Ask your teacher
for help in breaking down big assignments when needed.
Change where you study.
Change how you study.
Use positive self-talk (make positive statements to yourself).
Don’t procrastinate! Procrastination is putting off or avoiding doing
something that must be done.
Reward yourself after completing assignments. Feel good about
what you have accomplished. Don’t just focus on what is left to
complete.
