Weekly Reading Log
As part of the state standards in Language Arts, students are required to read one million words per year.
Reading helps develop language fluency and increases test scores and overall confidence in a student’s
ability. Additionally, recent studies have shown that reading aloud to someone uses more of the brain’s
capacity than simply reading silently to one’s self.
I require each student to read out loud to someone, preferably a younger sibling, to help increase both fluency
and competency. Reading out loud to someone also helps their language skills as well. Every weekend,
students are required to read out loud to someone for at least 45 minutes. This is verified by the signature
of a parent or guardian on this form.
Thank you for your assistance and continued love of reading!
READING LOG – This form is due every four weeks. I will pass it back after checking it.
