Newly Adopted Legislation
2009 Proposal No. 7
To specify that an institution shall not provide a high
school, preparatory school, two-year or four-year
college prospective student-athlete with a National
Letter of Intent or written offer of athletically related
financial aid until the prospective student-athlete
presents the institution with a current high school,
preparatory school or college transcript (official or
unofficial).
Effective Date: August 1, 2009, for written offers of
athletically related financial aid signed by a
prospective student-athlete on or after August 1,
2009.
Non Controversial Proposals
Proposal No. NC-2009-16
To eliminate the requirement that a prospective student-athlete
who is enrolled in the institution's summer term prior to the
student's initial full-time enrollment at the certifying institution
must have signed a National Letter of Intent (NLI) (or, for an
institution that does not use the NLI, a written offer of admission
and/or financial aid) in order to receive academic support
services and use the institution's training-room facilities.
Proposal No. NC-2009-22
To establish an exception to the 48-hour official visit for reasons
beyond the control of the prospective student-athlete and the
institution and, to specify that in such instances, the institution
shall submit a report to the conference office noting the details of
the circumstances.
