Description of the project:
The project aims at testing currently reported and developing new algorithms for real-time
enhancement of digital video for higher audience satisfaction. The enhancement involves
edge (structure) enhancement, color enhancement and motion compensated frame-rate
increase. The project is run in collaboration with Grundig A.S. (formerly BEKO A.S.).
The students will be financially sponsored by Grundig A.S. during the project duration.
Approach and Methodology:
The first stage of the project will be composed of literature survey. The students are
expected to review 3-4 papers per week and present the methods they have studied. The
mid-term project report will be mainly composed of this survey. The selected algorithms
will be implemented in Matlab. The second stage of the project involves developing
original algorithms tailored for the industrial needs. Each team member will be responsible
for a different algorithmic approach.
Expected Results and Accomplishments:
The literature survey and assessment of the selected algorithms’ performances will be
presented in the form of a technical report. The Matlab implementations of selected
algorithms will be completed and shared with the R&D department of Grundig A.S. The
original algorithms developed will be implemented and the Matlab codes will also be
shared. The feedback received from the industry will be the major factor in assessing the
success of the project.
