Theatre Guild Conditions of Membership
As members of Theatre Guild Glasgow there are certain rules held within, or accompanying, the
constitution that members will be governed by. These will apply to all members and before you
sign the attached membership form it is advised that you read and understand these rules. This
agreement will apply throughout the term of your membership.
1. Attendance at all rehearsals when required is compulsory and absences will only be allowed if
apologies are given to a member of the committee in advance. Members who fail to attend THREE
CONSECUTIVE rehearsals without notification given to a committee member will forfeit all monies
and their part in the production. Members should also note that they must attend at least TWO
rehearsals prior to the show audition to be considered for a principal part in the production.
2. The subscriptions will be set by the committee at the commencement of each year. These
subscriptions must be paid in full prior to taking part in the show auditions. Failure to comply could
lead to members not being considered for the role(s) auditioned for.
3. Club members will be notified of their ‘ticket target’ following auditions for the show. This will
indicate the desired number of ticket sales from each playing member for the show and will be
calculated by the budgeted ‘break even’ sales divided by the number of playing members. Where it is
not possible for an individual to sell the desired number of tickets, credit will be given for alternative
methods of increasing sales (e.g. concert party membership, publicity event attendance, publicity
contacts, etc). Where, in the opinion of the majority of the committee, an individual does not make a
suitable contribution to ticket sales every effort will be made by all parties to assist. In extreme
circumstances the individual may be asked to drop out of the show since basic expenses cannot be
covered.
4. Members are reminded that if they have any points or comments to be raised with the committee they
should approach a committee member to take their views forward to the next meeting.
5. Members should not under any circumstances bring the club into disrepute causing embarrassment to
the club, its members or the production team.
6. Members are liable for all tickets booked through them on a credit basis. All monies owed must be
paid in full no later than the Tuesday following the production. Legal action will be taken on any
outstanding monies beyond that date. Tickets are non-returnable and non transferable. As such it is
highly recommended that members collect ticket money from their customers as soon as possible and
NEVER issue tickets to anyone unless payment is received.
The committee reserve the right to alter these rules as and when it is deemed necessary. Club members will, of
course, be notified of any change.
I ________________________ agree to abide by the Theatre Guild Glasgow
constitution and to the above conditions of membership.
