Why Should I Participate of the Interchange Program?
In the middle of 2005, when I was in the second semester of the Production
Engineering course of Juiz de Fora Federal University, I delineated four big objectives to
my academic career: work as a member of a Junior Company, make my probation period
in a good company, participate of Interchange Program, at the United States, through
CAPES/FIPSE accord and to be selected as a Trainee in a big company, as well. Since
then, I am searching to achieve these objectives to become an excellent Engineer and
person.
As soon as it was possible, I had the opportunity to be a member of Mais
Consultoria, the Junior Company of my course, from December 2005 to December 2006.
In this precious time, I worked developing projects of Quality and spreading the company’s
name, being directly involved in the conquest of the city Quality Award of 2006. Moreover,
focusing on the improvement of my professional skills, I began my apprenticeship at the
plant of ArcelorMittal in Juiz de Fora, in the Logistics Department. After the achievement of
these two first objectives, it was remaining the participation of the Interchange to do part of
my academic studies in a foreign country and, then, be qualified to be selected in a
Trainee program.
The opportunity to study abroad fascinate me since one class of Production
Engineering Introduction, in my second semester, when two students that had just arrived
form North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University shared with us, unskilled
freshmen, their experience and knowledge acquired. Furthermore, with the beginning of
my probation period, I started to study to the TOEFL exam and did the test in 02/01/2008.
I am studying English for around twelve years. Since then, I am trying to travel to
the United States to learn about the American culture, visit touristic places and improve my
English. The possibility to study at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State
University will allow me to get in touch with culture during the entire semester and make
many friends. Besides, people from different parts of the world attended at the University,
which makes the experience richer and unique.
Nowadays, it is need to live abroad to get a wider and complete degree. It is a
privilege of few to study abroad and it takes off the professional life of any student. In
addition, this skill is appraised for many institutions, including the ones which have Trainee
programs. The University can provide the most advanced concepts and techniques to the
student, resulting in a higher level of learning. The area of Engineering knowledge that
most attract me is related to Decision Support Methods, using Operation Research and
Simulation. I believe in the people development through Education and, certainly, the
CAPES/FIPSE Interchange Program adds a valuable knowledge to the academic life.
The responsibility to participate on this program is huge, because the benefits are
not only for the student. The accord’s maintenance is responsibility of all, because it sums
to the Universities involved in Brazil and United States.
In conclusion, I believe that I fit in the profile required for this vacancy, because I
have clear objectives and I do no measure efforts to achieve them and I really want to
make part of the team that went to the United States, studied hard and contributed to
maintain this Interchange Program.
