Chinese Democracy by Guns N

Roses

Probably The Best Rock Album Released This Decade.

The wait is over. The new album from Guns N Roses, Chinese

Democracy, has arrived. The album, which features 14 brand new songs

from Axl and company, has garnered rave reviews and is easily the most

anticipated release of the year.

Track listing:

1. Chinese Democracy

2. Shacklers Revenge

3. Better

4. Street Of Dreams

5. If The World

6. There Was A Time

7. Catcher In The Rye

8. Scrapped

9. Riad N The Bedouins

10. Sorry

11. I.R.S.

12. Madagascar

13. This I Love

14. Prostitute

I must admit that Im not a huge fan of Rock music. I generally listen to Hip

Hop and Dance, but of course, theres an exception to every rule. In my

case, Guns N Roses is the exception. Its true that aside from Axl Rose,

none of the members are from the original band, but nonetheless, Chinese

Democracy still feels and sounds like a Guns N Roses album... at least to

me it does. Now, unless you are someone who still lives in the past, you

shouldnt expect this album to feel and sound exactly like Appetite for

Destruction or Use Your Illusion. That, I think would be pretty silly and

theres no need for me to elaborate. But at the same time, Chinese

Democracy is not drastically different from previous Guns N Roses albums

either.

Safe to say, Ive been listening to Chinese Democracy since it was

released in late 2008 and personally, I would rank this album as one of my

favorites of all time. The guitar riffs, the bass lines, the drums, the energy,

the melodies, Axls explosive vocals... what can I say? I absolutely love it.

The production is top notch, the tracks are excellently mixed, everything is

well arranged and theres enough variety to keep the listener interested.

Songs such as Better, If the World, Catcher In The Rye, Sorry, and This I

love are simply astoundi ng. The tracks vary in terms of tempo and mood,

but blend in nicely. However, to be fair, I dont think you will find a track in

here that could replicate the commercial success of Paradise City or

Welcome to the Jungle. What you will find, though, is a sup erb set of well

executed and authentic Rock songs.

Some people may have doubts about Axl Roses singing abilities,

wondering if hes still go it. As far as I can tell, Axls vocals actually sound

better than ever. Axl and his new band have been touring and performing

shows all over the world in the past few years, so its not like hes been

inactive since 1993. If you still have your doubts, listen to the song

Scraped, where Axl displays an amazing range of vocals. Actually, if you

listen to the whole album attentively, youll notice his vocals sound a bit

different on every track, which shows you his versatility as a singer. If you

still have your doubts, go to a recording studio, record your own vocals into

a track, play it back to your friends, and then compare the difference.

Its easy to criticize other peoples talents and the work they create. I

suppose thats why so many people do it; its just a very mindless, easy

thing to do. Take all the one-star reviewers on this page as an example.

These supposed fans put the most minimal effort in writing a review that

expresses their dissatisfaction of this multi-platinum selling album. They try

to persuade readers to believe that Chinese Democracy, as one reviewer

puts it, sounds too much techno. Huh? I wonder if he was even listening to

the right album? Or how about the reviewer who complained that the

album needed 14 years... 14 years of pain, in reference to an old Guns N

Roses song (sorry pal, youre no Jay-Z. So stop it with the metaphors).

Another reviewer claimed that AC DCs Black Ice & Metallicas Death

Magnetic are 1000 times better. I think his review could have been written

1000 times better. Others, I would guess most of them, appear to be upset

at the fact that Axl Rose is no longer with his original band members and is

still holding on to the name Guns N Roses, hence, the one-star rating. But

whatever. Were all entitled to an opinion, I guess. So heres mine: Five

stars! Its a classic album.
