WE ENABLE
GREATNESS
Four Dimensions of Human Nature
Body, Mind, Heart, Spirit
Body:
Cultural tendency: maintain life style; treat health problems
with surgery and medication .
Principle: prevent diseases and problems by aligning
lifestyle to be in harmony with established, universally
accepted principles of health.
Mind:
Culture: watch TV, ”entertain me.”
Principle: read broadly and deeply, continuous education
–
Heart:
Culture: use relationships with others to forward your
personal selfish interests.
Principle : Deep respectful listening and serving others
brings greatest fulfillment and joy.
Spirit:
culture: succumb to growing secularism and cynicism
Principle: recognize that the source of our basic need for
meaning and of the positive things we seek in life is
principles-which natural laws I personally believe have their
source in God.

HABIT
Intersection of knowledge, skill, and desire
Knowledge – what to do and why
Skill - how to do
Desire - want to do
In order to make something habit in our
lives, we have to have all three.
Effective habits are internalized principles
and patterns of behavior.
Perceptions
Mental maps
The way the things are - the realities
The way things should be - the values
Paradigm Shift
Paradigm: Example, pattern, perception,
theory, assumption, model,

The Seven Habits
Be Proactive
Begin with the End in Mind
Put First Things First
Think Win / Win
Seek First to Understand… Then to be Understood
Synergize
Sharpen the Saw
Habit-1: Be Proactive
Do not wait for things to happen, make them
happen.
You are responsible for your actions and
reactions.
It is not the situation but the response to the
situation which distinguishes from
proactively to reactivity.
Proactive vs. Reactive
Reactive language Proactive language
- There is nothing I can do. Let’s look at alternatives.
- That is just the way I am, I I can choose a different
can’t change. approach.
- I can’t. I choose.
- I must. I prefer.
cond.
The difference in effective between those
who take initiatives and those who do not
is not 25 – 50 percent, says Covey, but a
5000- plus% difference, particularly if they
are smart, aware and sensitive to others.
Circle of concern
Circle of influence
Habit - 2 Begin with end in mind
To succeed, Covey suggests visualization
You are the programmer and write the
program.
What is my personal and professional vision.
Habit – 3: Put first things first
Organize & execute around priorities
Habit – 4: Think win / win
Long term relationship can only last if they
are mutually beneficial.
Habit – 5: Seek first to understand,
then to be understood
In empathetic listening, you listen with your
ears, but you also, and more
empathetically listen with your eyes and
with your heart. You listen for feelings, for
meaning, you listen.
Habit – 6: Synergise
Value the differences, is the essence of
synergy. The mental, the emotional, the
psychological differences between people.
Habit – 7: Sharpen the saw
Four dimensions of personal renewal:
Physical - exercise & stress management
Mental - reading, visualizing, planning
Social / emotional - integrating with others to build
over own sense of well-being
Spiritual - religion study & meditation.
