animals—all walking on crutches or sitting in wheelchairs.

This is Japan, where Sunny was born.
It is an island country,
surrounded by a nourishing and protecting sea.

Unlike the birds, we are not free to pass.

The most beautiful planet in the ever-expanding universe; our home; the Earth.

Something has exploded!

This is a continent.
As you can see, borders may appear on maps, but not on the ground.

ちかごろ、
カンボジアや旧ユーゴスラビア、パレスチナ、アンゴラといった国々では、
多くの地雷がそのままになっています。
戦争が終わってもです。
それが世界中で 個。
このため、１時間に 人がどこかでなくなったり、
大けがをしているんです。
Today,
in Cambodia, the former Yugoslavia, the Middle East, Angola, and many other
countries, a tremendous number of landmines are still （１ b ）underground,
even though the （２ w ） there may be over.
All told, there are mines buried all over the world.
Every single hour, people are killed
Or severely （３ i ）by landmines.

山にも野原にも、
田や畑にも、学校の校庭にだって
地雷はたくさん埋められて、
もう、どこに埋めたか、
埋まっているかがわからなくなっているのです。
また、かんたんには見つけることも取り除くことも
できないのです。
These landmines are buried in fields,
Mountains, and even in schoolyards
--but
no one knows exactly where.
It is very difficult to detect and remove a landmine.

すぐに取り除かなければなりません。
でも、一つひとつさがしていかなければならないのです。
早く取り除かなければ、

たいへん、たいへんです。
Carefully, one by one, We must clear theses landmines.
We must remove them now,
