NEWS is still in the development stage but, once completed, this multi-functional support
system will surely be a must-have commodity throughout the world. The name of the unit
reflects the independent and natural way the system operates. In order for plants to
grow, water and the suns heat are required. Two of life’s most necessary ingredients are
all that is required to make NEWS completely functional. Drop the unit off at any
location, and just add water! Any water! A little bit of sun and…voila!
We envision the main use of NEWS will be for disaster relief such as providing water
and power after tsunamis or hurricanes, and for use in developing countries where clean
potable water is scarce and/or electricity is hard to source. NEWS is a stand-alone unit
and requires no alternative power source. In other words, “just add water”.
NEWS will be sized to accommodate the expected application, and includes a wide
range of options. The two main functions of NEWS are to provide potable water from any
source including salt water, and to supply electricity using revolutionary solar and
hydraulic turbine technologies. Water pumping is another main expected use for the
motor, or supplying power to rural schools, hospitals and homes.
The combination of these two technologies will be able to produce large quantities of
electricity without using any fuel. It will not produce any emissions and will provide power
without incurring any cost to do so. Included in the unit are communication tools,
maintenance equipment, storage areas, and a pullout work/eat/sleep area.

1. Parabolic Solar Dish
The highly efficient parabolic solar dish is computerized to follow the movement of the
sun. Although the HyT motor will generate most of the energy requirements, the solar
system is used to initially store heat in the heat storage tank. This heat is converted to
electricity and used, among other things, to start the generator.
Because the motor will generate most of the electricity required to run NEWS
components, the size of the solar dish can be small. It will collapse into its own storage
compartment during transportation or inclement weather conditions, or for security
reasons and at night. A flat voltaic panel may be sufficient to support the system.

2. Heat Storage Tank
The heat storage tank has the capacity to store extremely high temperatures for long
periods of time without significant loss. Heat from the tank is converted to electricity to
run the different systems included in NEWS. One of the main purposes of the generated
electricity is to start up the hydraulic turbine motor (HyT). The motor generates
electricity, which can also be converted to heat and stored in the tank for future use.
The storage tank has a heat transfer valve that is used to fill up smaller tanks. These
mobile units are taken to remote sites and used to supply electricity where required. A
heat-to-electricity converter is supplied with the mobile tank or located at permanent
sites that require this function. This system allows for remote villages to have electricity
without the requirement for wiring to an external energy source.

3. Hydraulic Turbine Motor
The hydraulic turbine motor HyT is highly efficient in the sense that it uses no fuel,
creates no emissions, has very few moving parts and can be started using energy from
the solar component. The motor is very powerful and can be used to provide enough
energy to pump large volumes of water, or provide electricity for virtually any size
operation, such as a hospital, farm, business or any other operation where electricity is
required.

4. Water Desalinization Unit
The water desalination unit is powered by the HyT motor and uses a tank similar to the
heat storage tank. The tank is sized based on the volume of water required to supply the
local demand. The desalination technology is an option and not supplied on units in
areas where salt water will not be processed.

5. Operating Platform
The operating platform is used to monitor NEWS and can be used for other
communications such as WLAN, Internet access and sending emails.

6. Potable Water Reservoir
The potable water reservoir is simply a tank where drinking water is stored. This is for
local supply. This water can be pumped to holding tanks in nearby buildings.

7. Solar Dish Computer
The solar dish computer is a small controller that regulates the movement of the dish,
making it follow the rotation of the sun. Depending on the size of the NEWS unit a flat
solar panel may be sufficient, thus making the parabolic dish and the computer
unnecessary.

8. Pump
The NEWS pump system is used to pump large quantities of water from the
desalinization unit or potable water reservoir to nearby buildings or for crop irrigation. It
is also used to pump water into the NEWS water processing units such as the
desalinization component.

9. Water Filtration Unit
The water filtration unit uses the latest technology to filter out arsenic, heavy metals,
bacteria and viruses from the water that is being processed for drinking. The filter can be
cleaned for reuse, although replacement filters will also be included in the supply
cabinet.

10. Supply Cabinet
The supply cabinet stores a variety of goods including food, medical kit, solar batteries,
fire extinguishers, spare parts and tools.

11. SLAB
SLAB is a multi-functional unit that can be used for a bed, chair, or recliner. The unit is
taken apart and re-assembled for the required function.

12. Service Panel
The service panel is used to plug in a variety of appliances, components and
other systems. Power to the panel is supplied from the electrical conversion unit
that converts heat to electricity.

The NEWS unit is housed in a tubular framework that holds an optional spring-loaded
fabric enclosure system that is used to camouflage the unit, provide sleeping/kitchen
quarters, and can accommodate e_station (option). The frame protects the unit during
transportation and facilitates a single unit that is simply unloaded at the desired site, set
up, and then operates virtually maintenance free.
NEWS w/frame members
Horizontal frame members contain smaller pullout enclosure members that have
their own spring-loaded side panel material inside. This allows for complete
enclosure to protect the operating and personal area from the elements.

Extendable Frame & Enclosure
NEWS is available with a covered area that extends from the main support members of
the unit. Included in the enclosure are options for e_station and a variety of amenities for
cooking, sleeping, entertainment, etc.
The spring-loaded cover is made of weather-resistant camouflage material that is simply
pulled out from the tubular members of the frame. This system gives NEWS security and
protection from the elements. Included in the enclosure options are A/C and heating for
the sleeping/eating quarters.

Seat, Lounge And Bed (SLAB) Index
The SLAB option has a designated storage compartment (#11) on the NEWS unit. Using
storage container components for support in the seat and lounge application, the SLAB
is both flexible and functional. Since no SLAB parts other than the envelope are stored
inside the container, the compartment can also be used to hold other mobile supplies
such as an inflatable table (optional).
SLAB Storage Module w/functional components
The container consists of two main components that make up a triangle with one side
missing. This shape is supported by the end pieces, Part #3. These can be separated for
the lounge function, or kept together for the chair function. Part #4 are handles that
double as coffee cup holders. Part #1 is the top and bottom section that has slots to
insert Part #2, which slide out of the frame to add side and back support to the envelope
for the chair function.

eStation: Index
eStation is an office in a box. It seats one and has all of the requirements of a typical
office including a drinking station. It is housed in the extendable enclosure that comes as
part of the option package.
