That, I later thought, perfectly describes Mustard Seed

We have a clear purpose: Acts of Mercy and Mission in East
and Central Africa. The two are inseparable. Mercy without
the gospel mission brings immediate comfort to the poor, but
no sense of peace to their heart, or a hope for eternal life.
Gospel mission without acts of mercy is a contradiction. It is
impossible to receive the saving mercy of Jesus Christ and not
give mercy to those in need.

A POEM ABOUT SONRISE BOARDING SCHOOL
SONRISE! SONRISE!
The loving parent of the hopeless and the rejected
Located amidst beautiful hills,
You are the interest of well wishers.
Your bright light! Oh your bright light!
It shines on our way to enlightenment.
SONRISE! SONRISE!
You deserve our praise,
For you unselfishly support us.
All people should acknowledge your love and unity!
For we shall never forget you.
SONRISE! SONRISE!
You dared offer homage to us the homeless.
You picked us from the streets, and we had no hope.
But now look! We have parents,
We are given the best education possible,
And have hope for a bright future.
SONRISE! SONRISE!
You stand as a vivid product from the love,
Care and support of the God loving community,
These are none other than our beloved sponsors.
Our heartfelt gratitude goes to you dear sponsors.
And may the almighty, bless you more abundantly.
SONRISE! SONRISE!
We thank God for our beloved bishop,
His lordship Bishop John RUCYAHANA.
For he worked tooth and nail to achieve the vision,
Through which you were established,
And now here you are our lovely home.
Long live our Bishop.
SONRISE! SONRISE!
Thanks also to our beloved president,
His Excellency Paul KAGAME,
For he shows love and support,
He even gave us a lovely cow,
From which we drink milk and grow healthy.
SONRISE! SONRISE!
But most of all,
Thanks to the almighty God,
We pray that we may be given a chapel,
So that we may have our souls nourished,
A secondary school is an additional blessing.
LONG LIVE SONRISE!
May our Lord ever rise in you, Oh fountain of unity!
For through you Son rise,
Mother Rwanda hopes for,
An enlightened, able,
And morally up right future generation.
We Remember
Butler Freeman Dargan
By A Dear Friend, Anne Harvey
Mustard Seed has sadly lost a devoted friend, Butler Dargan, who saw the vision of the Mustard Seed
Ministries in 1999 while visiting the Babies’ Home in Hoima, Uganda, and the home and ministry of Bishop
John and Harriet in Ruhengeri, Rwanda.
Along with her husband, Pep, she strongly supported the ministry, and encouraged many others in the Pawleys
Island community to join them. You could see her face light up when she was sharing the joy of praying and
supporting the many visions of the Mustard Seed Project. Butler strongly believed and modeled the power of
support that begins with prayer.
She was the head of the Foreign Mission Committee at All Saints in Pawleys Island, and had planned to go
with a team this fall on a return trip to Rwanda. It had been her dream to return to see the progress and growth
of the ministry.
Bishop John Rucyahana recently said of Butler, “She was a humble lady with a transformational spirit that
had been willing to sow seed into the Rwandanese Society”.
