nominated by the co-ordinator of the programme to which they are applying.

Guidance Notes for Completing the Application

Availability:
UWS has been allocated 3 bursaries to be awarded to successful candidates and to be used
towards payment of tuition fees only. The value of each bursary is set at £3,400.
Bursaries will be awarded on the basis of an overall assessment of the merit and promise of the
candidate, including their financial circumstances.
Eligibility:
Applicants must:
- Be Scottish by birth, descent or have been continuously resident in Scotland for at least
3 years for the purpose of secondary or tertiary education;
- Have a place to study at UWS, on a taught postgraduate degree, either one year full time
or two years part time.
NB: Study at certificate or diploma level only will not qualify and will not be considered.
Bursaries can only be awarded to students before they embark on the course.
Completing the Application:
Applicants must complete all sections of the application form. Failure to complete the application
in full may result in the application being considered null and void. Further information can be
included on a separate page if necessary.
Supporting Evidence:
In order for the application to be considered, the following supporting evidence must be provided:
- Copy of offer letter, showing the course for which you are applying for funding;
- Evidence of academic qualifications held, i.e. copy of certificate or transcripts;
- A projected household budget showing your expected income and expenditure during
the coming academic year;
- Any further evidence in support of your household budget, i.e. evidence of debts.
Failure to provide the requested supporting evidence may result in the application being
considered null and void.
Submitting the Application:
The closing date for receipt of all applications is 22nd July, 2011. Emailed applications will not be
accepted. Completed applications should be submitted in person to the Student Link, J Block, or by
post, to be received no later than the closing date, to:

Finding out the Outcome:
The panel will make a decision by 19th August, 2011 and all candidates will be advised of the
outcome by email, no later than 26th August, 2011. Arrangements will be made for the successful
candidates to enrol and for payment of the bursaries to be made directly to the University.
