A Workshop for Beginning Teachers
Target Audience: All teachers new to the profession
When: Monday, September 26
Morning session: 8:30 am -11:30 am for K-5 teachers (Registration 8:00-8:30 am)
Afternoon session: 12:30 pm - 3:30 pm for Grades 7-12 teachers (Registration 12:00-12:30 pm
Where: NW Service Cooperative, 114 West 1st Street, Thief River Falls
Welcome to your first year of teaching! Your journey into the classroom has begun and can be more
successful. This workshop for new teachers will provide practices and strategies to become a more
effective teacher.
This session will focus on issues such as the following:
• Classroom management
• Grading and assessment
• Literacy strategies
• Time management
• Accountability
• Communicating with parents
• Building relationships and appropriate boundaries with your students
• Network opportunities
Presenter: Jan Ferraro is a licensed reading specialist with many years of teaching students at all
levels. She presents workshops in literacy all over the state of Minnesota. Jan also is an adjunct
instructor for Hamline University. Her enthusiasm and knowledge of education will benefit all those
who attend this workshop.
Fee: $75/ each session - NCEC members; $100/ each session - non-NCEC members
(Fee includes refreshments. Lunch not included)
