LEGO CAD Sticker Generator
Created by: Scott Wardlaw
What does it do?
You can now add customized stickers to your drawings and renderings. This program
allows the user to create LDRAW type files from Windows Bitmap Images for
insertion into your favorite drawing / CAD package as a part file.
How does it work?
1. Browse to the Windows formatted Paletted 8-bit (256 Color) Bitmap Image that
you want to convert into a sticker. Other formats will not work at this time.
2. Browse to a good save location and choose a filename that is less than 8
characters in length. It is not recommended to save directly to your LDRAW
library.
3. Fill in or change the meta data (the name, part id, author, and description) to
appropriate values.
4. Click the Preview button and view the converted image.
5. Adjust the size as needed and Click Preview again.
6. If a white background needs to be removed, be sure that Ignore White is checked,
and you may want to raise or lower the whiteness level to be removed from the
part file.
7. If a black background needs to be removed, be sure that Ignore Black is checked,
and you may want to raise or lower the blackness level to be removed from the
part file.
8. When you are satisfied with the size and colors, Click Convert.
9. Lastly, open MLCAD or any other LDRAW based CAD program and either open
the part file as a drawing or add it as a custom part to your current drawing.
Please note that you will need to close and re-open some programs each time you
click the Convert button.
10. When you are satisfied with your sticker, copy it to your LDRAW library and
command your CAD program to scan the library for new parts.

Problems?
If you get a message that you are missing comdlg32.ocx, you need to add it to your
c:\windows\system32\ folder and then restart your machine.
On start up, a log file is created in the same directory as the executable. On Convert,
a temporary bitmap is also created in the same directory. Be sure that you have
permissions and space to write to this folder.
Only Windows Paletted 8-bit (256 Color) Bitmaps will work. Windows Paint or
Windows Imaging will usually do a good conversion from JPG, TIF, or GIF to a
Windows 256 Color Bitmap.
When naming the file or browsing to a save location, the name of the file must not be
more than 8 characters in length. (12 characters including extension)
When ignoring either white or black, adjusting the color levels up or down (suggest
increments of 10 or more) will change the image. Sometimes very large increments
are needed, and sometimes very small changes will have a big effect. This varies
depending on the depth of the color palette of the image.
