NOVEL MOLECULAR AND CELLULAR IMAGING TOOLS AND STRATEGIES Vinod Subramaniam MESA+ Institute for Nanotechnology & MIRA Institute for Biomedical Engineering and Technical Medicine, University of Twente, PO Box 217, 7500AE Enschede, The Netherlands firstname.lastname@example.org Recent developments in new imaging modalities and novel fluorescent reagents, such as semiconductor quantum dots, have revolutionized our ability to precisely localize and visualize dynamic processes involving multiple molecular interactions in vitro and in living cells at high spatial, temporal, and chemical resolution. I will focus on multiparameter optical imaging strategies, combining intensity, spectral and lifetime imaging, that enable the quantitative measurement and imaging of photophysical events in nanoconfined structures and of molecular and cellular biophysical processes. I will also touch upon our activities in optical super-resolution imaging, which enables sub-diffraction limit visualization of biomolecules with unprecedented resolution.
