Gloria A. Gronowicz, PhD
Since her training is in molecular and cell biology, Dr. Gloria A. Gronowicz has
combined her interest in energy medicine with cell biology techniques. The goal of her
laboratory is to understand the effect of therapeutic touch on the growth and
differentiation of cells. Her laboratory has studied normal cells isolated from patients’
tendon, bone and skin, and compared their responses to those from transformed cell
lines, in particular derived from osteosarcomas.
In addition, her laboratory is involved in tissue engineering, and studies the mechanism for
biocompatibility of materials in humans. They devise novel biomaterials that will augment bone formation,
in particular in human aging and for patients with debilitating musculoskeletal diseases. In addition, they
are investigating the cell biology of glucocorticoid-induced osteoporosis.

(Physics), Morphology, etc. Applications of these facts are practiced in the workshop during the
presentation.

application of Cosmo Power for the conditioning of one’s body to produce higher power to loosen up
muscle tightness; How to breathe to amplify your energy; How to apply CP for Healing; CP application for
healing and martial arts. CP can be applied for Hypnotism. Meditation can help train your brain wave to
be in an alpha state, which is the frequency required for improving energy healing, self-healthcare, self-
hypnosis, physical activities in the athletic fields, etc. In this lecture, Dr. Hiraoka will demonstrate how to
generate Cosmo Power. It is very easy to learn this energy method. It is just like playing games with your
friends. You can develop Cosmo Power for self-improvement, staying healthy, increased longevity,
general healing, hypnosis, levitation clairvoyance, etc.

methods. Dr. Mayer has been at the forefront of integrating Qigong with Western Bodymind healing
methods for the last two decades. From Dr Mayer’s experience in the integrative medical clinic which he
co-founded, you’ll see how to integrate Qigong into Western behavioral health care treatment, and you’ll
discover how an integral approach can bring the essence of Qigong into psychotherapy without ever
using a word about Qigong and without doing a Qigong movement. Dr Mayer’s energy psychology
approach will be applied to anxiety, chronic pain, hypertension, etc. You’ll learn how an integration of
Western psychotherapeutic, behavioral healthcare methods and Qigong… a leading-edge energy
psychology… can help to heal a variety of physical and psychological disorders. Case examples from Dr
Mayer’s work in an integrative medical clinic will be used to illustrate how the holistic dimensions of this
method are integrated in practice.

Presentation: Using mind-wandering to assess the impact of meditation on
mindfulness
This talk will examine the relationship between meditation practice and mind-wandering- the tendency for
thoughts to drift away from the ongoing task. I will discuss both intervention studies examining the impact
of meditation training on mind-wandering, and correlational studies investigating the relationship between
mind-wandering and self-report measures of mindfulness.
Many contemplative traditions believe that meditation encourages the development of mindfulness which
entails enhanced awareness of one current state. Although mindfulness questionnaires have been
C:\Docstoc\Working\pdf\d1eb6e90-677e-465f-8b23-b4c3d09cd6af.doc Page 10 of 15
developed little research to date there are no established behavioral measures of mindfulness. This talk
will describe recent research examining the relationship between meditation practice and mind-
wandering- the tendency for thoughts to drift away from the ongoing task. Several strands of research
will be reviewed including both intervention studies examining the impact of meditation training on mind
wandering, and correlational studies investigating the relationship between mind wandering and self-
report measures of mindfulness.

What inner experiences are associated with high amplitudes of high frequency
brainwaves (40 Hz, gamma band) from the prefrontal cortex of the brain, which is the ajna, or third eye
region? How do meditation practices impact the production of this gamma band and the resulting
experience of healing states? A study comparing advanced meditators and nonmeditators showed that
both groups could produce gamma brainwaves from this region, but that meditators had much greater
ease in doing so. In additional to practices such as meditation and qigong, it is possible that gamma
neurofeedback training may help people access or train these states.
