A POEM: LOSING SOMEONE OR SOMETHING
DEDICATED TO DESTINEE PARKER & HER FAMILY
AUTHOR: Shionna McCarthy – 7th Grader at The Stadium School
Losing someone is hurtful
All of the hurt and pain
Can you change what happen?
There’s no one else to blame
I think Destinee was a good girl
Who made good grades
She probably came to school everyday
She probably didn’t believe in playing games
I do believe she tried her best
To get rid of this flu
But this virus had her body
What could she do?
People at Montebello probably knew her
As smart, intelligent, and sweet
She had a lot of friends
She was probably known as someone neat
I think she was known at Montebello
Even though I don’t know her very well
But I do know about the swine flu
So the details, I can tell
I know she was nice
She probably had a smile on her face
I think she had a great family
Who stayed on her case
This flu has taught me a lesson
That it has your body not your soul
She has been here for a short time
You can tell she was very bold
Maybe she couldn’t handle it
All of the stress and mean tones
Maybe she knew she was gonna die
So at this time, He took her home
I know you are hurting
All the long-lasting tears
But God has taught you and I a lesson
Appreciate the person/thing when it is here
You just have to pray about it
And you will be alright
Just know God took her for a reason
She did put up a good fight!
