A RESOLUTION memorializing William G. "Bill" Prewitt, Sr.
WHEREAS, William G. "Bill" Prewitt, Sr. was a native son of the Commonwealth
of Kentucky, born in Shelby County, and a longtime resident of Henry County; and
WHEREAS, William G. "Bill" Prewitt, Sr. was a successful businessman, being the
proprietor of Prewitt Funeral Home since the 1960's; and
WHEREAS, William G. "Bill" Prewitt, Sr. was a dedicated public servant, serving
as county coroner for 32 years, being the dispatcher of the New Castle Emergency Squad,
and working with the American Red Cross; and
WHEREAS, William G. "Bill" Prewitt, Sr. gave his time toward civic endeavors,
being a member of the Simpson Lodge #189, New Castle Lions Club, wherein he had
perfect attendance for 60 years, the Masons, and the Rotarians; and
WHEREAS, William G. "Bill" Prewitt, Sr. received many awards, including the
Golden Certificate from the Kentucky Funeral Director's Association for 50 years of
service, and Outstanding Citizen of New Castle given by the New Castle Lions Club; and
WHEREAS, William G. "Bill" Prewitt, Sr. was a member of and served on the
board of the New Castle Christian Church; and
WHEREAS, William G. "Bill" Prewitt, Sr. was the loving and beloved husband of
Josephine Prewitt; and
WHEREAS, William G. "Bill" Prewitt, Sr. was the loving and beloved father of
Ms. Gay Prewitt, Mrs. Kay Ledbetter, and Mrs. Nancy Stephens, and Billy Prewitt, Jr.,
who preceded him in death; and
WHEREAS, William G. "Bill" Prewitt, Sr. was a loving and beloved grandfather
and great-grandfather; and
WHEREAS, William G. "Bill" Prewitt, Sr. departed this life on July 29, 2005;
NOW, THEREFORE,
Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of
Kentucky:

Section 1. The Senate does hereby offer its most profound sense of sorrow and
proffers its sincerest condolences to the family and friends of William G. "Bill" Prewitt,
Sr.
Section 2. The Senate recognizes that William G. "Bill" Prewitt, Sr. was a fixture
of his community of New Castle, that he was loved by all those who had the privilege of
making his acquaintance, and that his kindness, good humor, and dedication to the
citizens of New Castle, Henry County, and the surrounding counties will continue to
resonate among the citizens for years to come.
Section 3. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit ten copies of this
Resolution to Mrs. Josephine Prewitt, 425 North Main Street, New Castle, Kentucky
