Oceans Eleven improves on 1960s Rat Pack original with supernova
casting, a slickly updated plot, and Steven Soderberghs graceful touch
behind the camera. Soderbergh reportedly relished the opportunity to
make a movie that has no desire except to gi ve pleasure from beginning to
end, and he succeeds on those terms, blessed by the casting of George
Clooney as Danny Ocean, the title role originated by Frank Sinatra. Fresh
out of jail, Ocean masterminds a plot to steal $163 million from the
seemingly impervious vault of Las Vegass Bellagio casino, not just for the
money but to win his ex-wife (Julia Roberts) back from the casinos ruthless
owner (Andy Garcia). Soderbergh doesnt scrimp on the capers comically
intricate strategy, but he finds greater joy in assembling a stellar team
(including Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Don Cheadle, and Carl Reiner) and
indulging their strengths as actors. The result is a film thats as smooth as a

You know the story, this is a remake of a classic that is a classic. I just love
it. It moves so well, provides comedy, suspense good acting and
everything else. Clooney is the natural leader here with a mysterious, yet
gorgeous Julia Roberts playing one of her best parts, subtle, but
necessary. This bunch of nuts and misfits (not really), get the last laugh,
Clooney almost gets the boot because, Pitt finds out about some of his
motives. Just one of those flicks that you can watch 5 times and still see
something new.
