Motivation story
English is my second language, so I haven’t learned any
mathematics in English before. We have mathematics course in first
term in financial management program. When I took this course, I
did all the homework on time, went to all lectures, took notes, and
ask questions in lab. Then, I got 99% in the first midterm mark. I was
very happy about it because I found I also can get a good mark if I
work hard. After that, I got a higher motivation. I kept doing all the
homework on time, going to all lectures, taking notes, and asking
questions. Before the second midterm, I did more extra work in
mathematics. Finally, I got a full mark in the second midterm.
However, I didn’t really feel very happy in this time. Because I knew
I only need 50% to pass the course, the extra mark for me is useless.
Then, I asked myself” why still work hard in this situation. Even
though I got a full mark, I just need 50%. I don’t think I need to keep
working hard in mathematics.” ”. After that, my motivation for
learning mathematics is beening low.
