Step 3: Using the Page Editor
Another way that you can build and update your website is to use the Page Editor
option. Begin by logging into the Web Builder and then click on Build/Edit Website.
Next, click on Page Editor.
This will bring you to a screen where you'll see all of the pages and articles that make
up your site laid out for you.
To edit a page, just click on the page you want to work on. This will bring up that page,
as you see below:
You can edit any part of the page that is outlined in red dashes. Simply click on the part
you want to edit, and a box will pop up that will let you change that section's content.
When you're happy with what you entered, click Save Changes. When you are done
editing that particular page, click "Save" and then the "X" in the upper right-hand corner
to go back to the Page Editor.
This will bring you back to the Page Editor, where you can choose another page to work
on or return to the main menu.
The articles (1-12) are what make up the content on your website. Articles 1–3 will
show up on the first page of your website (remember, you were asked to name the
pages of your website in the Website Builder – see Step 2 for more details). Articles 4–
6 will show up on the second page of your website. Articles 7–9 will show up on the
third page of your website. Articles 10–12 will show up on the fourth page of your
website.
You can have up to 12 articles on your website (three on each page). To edit the
content of your articles, see Step 11. If you want to add a new article to your site, you
will need to replace one of the 12 articles that is already there.
Let's say the third page on your website is called "Soups" and you want to add a new
article about soup recipes.
You know that articles 7–9 correspond to the third page of your website, so you would
want to put your soup article in one of those positions. If you put it in any of the other
positions, it will show up on a different page of your website. For example, if you put
your soup article in the Article 12 position, it would show up on the fourth page of your
website instead of the third.
At the bottom of the Page Editor is a page called SEO Settings.
This will allow you to enter page titles, a meta description, and meta keywords.
By entering information here, you'll improve your site's SEO (search engine
optimization). SEO is all about using keywords in strategic places on your website in
order to get a better ranking in the search engines. The information you enter on the
SEO Settings page won't actually show up on your website, it will only be used by
search engines to index your website.
We will talk more about SEO in Step 12.
As with the Website Builder option, you can use the Page Editor to edit your website at
any time, as often as you want.
