Balloon Popping Relay Divide guests into two equal groups. About 25 yards away place two large bags (bin liners) of inflated balloons in colours to match your theme colours. The balloons should be over-inflated to make popping easier. At the sound of a ringing bell or whistle, the first two relay contestants, one from each team, run to the bag, and remove one balloon. Each contestant must sit on it until it pops. Once the balloon pops, the players run back to the starting line, and tag the next player in line. The first team to complete the course wins. Not a quiet game, but a guaranteed favourite!
Man Hunt - typically ideal for younger boys Establish two seperate teams with an equal number of players. Have one team be “it” and have the other team hide. The team that is “it” must find and capture all the members of the hiding team and secure them in one place so that they are all in the same place. When the game is over, teams switch sides. This game is more fun played with boys and girls. This game is alot of fun and can be modified, one version of this game i have played is that each team has a captin they must protect and the winner is the team who captures the captin.
Pass the orange (or tennis ball) Arrange for teams of about 8 to stand in a line, one behind the other arranged boy, girl, boy, etc. Give each team an orange which the first person should tuck under his chin. This should be passed to the person behind. When the orange gets to the last person, they come to the front of the line and start again. The winnnig team is the first one which gets their starting person to the front again.
Pass the balloon This game is played the same as the above pass the orange but with a balloon held between the knees.
Wrap the mummies Split your teens into teams of three and give each team a toilet roll. Two persons then wrap the third in the toilet roll so that they look like an Egyptian Mummy. Name that tune -Team game You’ll need a CD player and some compact discs with compilations of songs related to your theme if the party is themed or just some good favorites of an era appropriate for your party guests. Play the first few seconds of a song, and see which guest can name that tune the fastest. Keep track of points and award the winning team with a traet of some sort or you could play a drinking version and the team which loses has to down thier drinks.. If your group is large, play a variation on this game. Using famous songs, list song titles on one side of a page, and the original Artists or songwriters on the other side. Make enough copies for all guests. Challenge guests to match as many as possible. This is a fun game and will create teamwork between your guests.
Killer (murderer) -Icebreaker -Good for groups All sit in a circle. Pass cards around telling people to keep them hidden; the person with say the ace of spades is the murderer. When he is ready, the Murderer winks at people in the circle. Anyone who sees that they have been winked at lets out a bloodcurdling scream and dies. If someone thinks they know who the murderer is, they ask everyone to put there hands out into the centre of the circle. Everyone closes their eyes and the person guessing touches the hand of the person they think is the murderer. If they are wrong, they are out of the game and the murderer is free to carry on…until they are found out or they murder everyone! A good laugh, even for adults and is a good inital icebreaker encouraging eye contact between guests.
Trouser snake game -Good for groups -Icebreaker -Team This free adult party games sounds perverted but is a lot of fun especially for teenagers and adults. If you are looking for a fun adult party game then add this to the list. Divide your party into teams of between 3 and 6. Make sure couples are split up. Prepare a ball of string for each team. The game is straightforward - on the word go each team must pass the string down the trousers/skirt/dress of the first player, back up the trouser/skirt/dress of the second player and so on until everyone is linked. The ends of the piece of string must be tied to finish. The fastest team wins. A good game to break the ice, and excellent for getting singles together.
Dizzy lizzy -Outdoor party game Get 2 broomsticks or similar sticks. It’s a relay race. Divide players into two teams and place two sticks at the other end of the room or garden. On the signal each player takes a turn to do the following: - run to the stick - hold the broom stick upright and place your forehead on the top (so you’re looking at the floor) - run your legs around the stick in a circle, whilst keeping your forehead on the stick - every one on your team counts your circles up to 10 - then run back to your team and tag the next player First team to finish wins. The point is you get very dizzy and it’s difficult to actually complete without falling over, this game is often combine with alcohol but i do not recommend this if you have a week stomach.
Flour Relay -Messy outdoor games Set up a table a reasonable distance away. On that table place a plate with several cup cakes or similar. Completely cover these in
flour. Each team member takes it in turns to run from the starting line to the plate try and pick up a cake in their mouth without using their hands and return it back to the start. Then the next player goes. The winning team is the one with all the cakes back first. Note: this game gets messy and you may want to pre warn guests to bring a spare t shirt or apron.
Depending on your garden space you could set up other team games like football, softball or something similar. These types of games are more likely to be appreciated by your more active guests.
