Get Immediate Traffic to Your Website or Online Store
Whenever you setup a new website, you always want what? Immediate traffic. The reasons could be many; you may want to drive traffic to your site so you can earn advertisement revenue, you could have an online store that you want to start making money off of now, or you could just want all of your hard work appreciated. Most likely, it’s one of the first two, because as a society it’s all about the dollar bill (well, with the dollar falling, it might be all about the euro). There are two attack methods here, I’ll list them as “Passive” and “Aggressive”. There isn’t a huge difference here, but you can read about that below.

Attack Mode 1: Passive Passive is the lazy mans way to immediate traffic. You want a lot of traffic, but you don’t want to actively go out and search for your audience. Passive Tip #1: Social Bookmarking SocialMarker.com is a website that easily allows you to submit your web site (or a specific page) to a variety of social bookmarking websites (47 as of this writing). The only down fall to this, is you have to have an account with each one of those different sites. After you setup all your different logins through SocialMarker.com all you have to do is provide a URL, Title, Description, and Tags. Then the wonderful monkeys that turn the gears behind the scenes will submit your link to all of the bookmarking sites you have logins setup for. Passive Tip #2: Spreading Your Feeds This is another way of getting free traffic to your website, and is important if you have a blog or an RSS feeds setup with all of your products, and that’s spreading your RSS feed. Now there are plenty of programs and websites you can pay for this privilege, but you can do this for free by using SubmitRSSFeed.com. The site is very easy and straight forward, just sign up for an account and submit your RSS feed. Then once sites pick up on it you’ll start to notice traffic coming in. Passive Tip #3: AddThis! Pretty much every blog owner on the web started using this and now it’s starting to spread onto tons of different sties. The not‐so‐secret site called AddThis.com, and it allows your users to easily submit your content to Social Bookmarking sites for you. That’s right, the visitor does it for you, all you have to do is sit back and watch the traffic come in. All you have to do is sign up for an account, customize your button, and paste the javascript code on your website.

Attack Mode 2: Aggressive This is the opposite end of the spectrum from the passive attack mode. With these techniques you’ll actually be going out and actively trying to recruit an audience to come to your website. This can take a little more time and a little more work, but you can see results much faster than any of the passive attacks. Aggressive Tip #1: Yahoo! Answers This is the center piece to my aggressive campaign, as you can take the techniques you learn here and apply it to other websites and other online social settings. First, we’ll need to get ourselves a yahoo account, I really don’t recommend using a personal account, because if you mess up and start spamming, then your account can be deleted or banned from all Yahoo services. For this example, we’re going to focus on promoting my fictitious blog which contains house hold tips called “Household Tips”. So in keeping with the theme, my screen name I created with Yahoo is “tipsforthehome2008″, I’ve also setup my profile with my name, a link to my blog, and setting up all the other things that come with creating a new account at Yahoo. Now that is done, let’s go to the home page of Yahoo! Answers and sense this is to promote a “Household Tips” blog, we should check out the “Home & Garden” section. Once this page has loaded you’ll notice a number of questions on the right side of the page with new questions are added about every 3 minutes during most times of the day. Please remember, we need to keep this as spam free as possible, so please refrain from just clicking on questions and posting your links. What we need to do is find a question that relates to something on our blog, and then offer our website as a solution. An example of this would be if someone posted “How do I get wine out of my carpet?”, I would click on the question and post a quick response, “I was on the website of http://www.householdtips.com and found that using a little bit of soap and vinegar, you can easily remove wine from your carpet.” What that does is two things. First, it provides a real solution to their problem and increases the likely hood that they will return to your website for other household tips. Second, it provides your website as a tool to other people who read this question and are looking for answers as well. Again, we need to refrain from just posting a URL and saying “read this” and people will either give it a thumbs down or report it as spam. If you’re having problems finding questions that you can answer on the home page, click on the “Advance Search” link which is beside the search box. Type in a few keywords and make sure you check “Open Questions”. This will pull up questions that relate to what you search for that are still open for answers. Aggressive Tip #2: Invading Online Social Groups MySpace and Facebook are really great tools for driving traffic to your website. Like with the

above example, we’ll need to create a new account and setup our profile. This ensures that your personal account will not get deleted or marked as spam. After you’ve setup your profile, you’ll need to find some groups on these websites that relate to your subject. Using the “Household Tips” example, we can search groups for a number of things; Stay at Home Moms, House Hold Tips, Repair Men, etc.. anything that you can think of that relates to Household Tips probably already exists as a group (or two). Now, after you’ve searched out a few of these groups, you need to join the group and take part in the community. Join the discussion of many topics that they post about, become friends with them on the social network that you’re using, basically become one of them. After you’ve become a part of their community, they’ll be more likely to listen to you when you post links or articles from your website without reporting it as spam. You can either offer tips, links to tips, or full blown articles just for the community. The great part about this, is not only will you get traffic from the community, but they are more likely to share what you’ve posted with their friends. Thus creating a viral content that people will spread from person to person.
