Online Comprehensive Exam Information
Offered each Fall from October 1-October 31 (candidate has the entire month to
complete the exam)
Offered each Spring from March 1-March 31 (candidate has the entire month to
complete the exam)
Candidate may register to take the exam after completing 24 credits and prior to
the completion of his/her last course
Candidate must register for the exam by notifying the Center for Teaching
Excellence via email (ldefibaugh @clarion.edu) of his/her intention to take the
exam by September 15 of the Fall semester or by February 15 of the Spring
semester.
Once registered, candidate will have access to a D2L site to complete the exam
Candidate will be given three prompts; candidate will be required to respond to
two of the three prompts. Generally, each prompt will require a 3-5 page
response to adequately attend to the content of the prompt. The exam prompts
required candidates to make connections to program content, relevant research,
and practical applications
Graduate faculty members will read exams via blind review.
The Center for Teaching Excellence will send an official letter to candidate within
2-3 weeks after the exam has been reviewed. Unsuccessful candidates will be
required to make arrangements with the Graduate Coordinator to retake the exam
at the next scheduled exam time.
