Unit Plan Title: I’ve Been Around The World

Curriculum-Framing Questions

Essential Question:

Do we need all the langauges of world?

Should different share their culture? If so how?



Unit Questions:

Around how many langauges are spoken today?

How important is modern day travel?

People in different countries eat different food. What are the differences between

their and ours?



Content Questions:

Should we all speak one langauge

Unit Summary

Sushi anyone? I've been around the world is a unit about different countries and

cultures of the world. The world is a big place and it is a very interesting to see into

the lives of different cultures. Around 8 billion est is a rough estimate of how many

people living the world today. It is a very interesting topic learning about how other

cultures live day to day life. Their religions, food, housing, ecomony, music, politics,

dress and ancient culture. All these factors will be covered in this unit. Learning a

second language is a wonderful skill to have, in his unit the students will be learning

french on a half hour tutorial on a weekly basis.

Accommodations for Differentiated Learning

Students with Special Needs: modified requirements such as a smaller poser with a

collage of photographs about the country.

English as a Second Language (ESL) Student: Simple task and more langauge

worksheets concerning vowels and vocab

Gifted Student: more challenging tasks, extended investigation in related topics of

the learner’s choice, open-ended tasks or projects that allow for deeper analysis and

evaluation of issues.

Student Assessment:

The Poser will be displayed in the classroom and the time given for the project will

included reseach time and visits to the library.

The frech lessons will run for the whole unit time with a small oral test at the end of

the unit

The worksheets and small class assesments will be completed in class time
