 Explain the role that education has played in helping you overcome hardships such as poverty,

disability, homelessness or personal tragedy

 Explain any volunteer work, community service or extracurricular activities you are involved in

5. Letters of Recommendation



Academic Letter of Recommendation

Your academic recommender should be a teacher, principal, or guidance counselor who knows you well. Upon

completion of this page, an email will be sent automatically to your recommender with a link to a webpage

where he/she will submit your recommendation.



Your recommender will be asked to explain what makes you an excellent scholarship candidate and why he/she

believes that you will be successful in college.



Your recommender must submit his or her recommendation via the online system by 11:59 p.m. on September

16th.



If you are selected as a semifinalist, Stand for Children will contact your recommender by telephone to verify

his/her reference.

mentors, coaches, pastors, employers and internship supervisors are examples of good personal recommenders.

Stand for Children Leadership Center may request an official (sealed) transcript from you if you are selected as

a finalist.

Please scan and upload a copy of your parents' most recent federal income tax return (form 1040) including

Our Selection Committee will meet to choose scholarship finalists during the week of September 27. If you are

chosen as a finalist, Stand for Children will contact you by telephone to schedule an interview on or before

October 1st. If you are not chosen as a finalist, you will receive notification by email.
